This Isetta was removed from long time storage last fall where it had been since 1963. I have receipts for $4,000 in parts, not including my labor. I have cleaned and polished it to make it presentable, It has most of the original paint. It had some paint work done on the left rear quarter (but no filler) prior to being in storage pre 1963. There are random dents, dings, scrapes, rust spots, but what you see it what you get, no bondo or cover ups. Alot of people like the patina. The front door was brush painted with oil base. I removed it and exposed the dents, and polished it and polished the emblems. Since its original you car see the imperfections from when the car was built new such as the locations of the original spot welds that always get smoothed over to make them perfect. The floor has a hole pictured on the passenger side seam, the sunlight in the picture makes it look bigger than it is. There is also a narrow area under the voltage regulator. The rest of the floor is solid. The floor pan is original and the lower part of the car hasn't been spray painted to hide anything. The battery tray is new and just sitting in place. It is a tight fit. The trim and bumpers are original. I just cleaned and lightly polished them. The interior is original other than the added carpet on the floor and on the tray behind the seat. I have the original for a template. The little suitcase and picnic basket isn't included, it belongs to my mother in law and borrowed to keep stuff in for the microcar meet. I also installed a lap belt from one of my VW's for my daughter and it is not included. You can easilly bolt lap belts for the driver and passenger because there are body to frame bolts on each side so no extra holes need to be drilled. The seat is original and has some holes in the vinyl and discoloration for the spare wheel sitting on it for 50 years. I painted the steering column/pedal assembly, cover under pedal assembly, engine tin, air filter assembly, sunroof assembly, parking brake, defroster, and wiper arm,everything else including the wheels are original paint. The transmission shifts in all gears and reverse and doesn't pop out. It does leak some gear oil from the gasket. I drive this Isetta around town and it's fun to play around with. It gets lots of pictures, compliments, and attention. I just participated in the Lane Motor Museum micro car meet with my 7yr old daughter and had a blast with the Isetta. The meet included a drive out to percy priest lake for rides in an amphicar and a drive around downtown nashville the next day. It accelerates good and has good top end and power (for a micro car), but it keeps wanting to idle high when warm and I haven't taken the time to correct it. That didn't start until after the fuel bowl cracked and I had to run a line straight to the carb. As with any old car they require tinkering Engine: original numbers matching engine rebuilt w/new steel connecting rod, bearings, pcv valve, piston and rings 1st over bore, ignition coil, points, condensor, motor mounts, new muffler and hangers, new exhaust w/heat exchanger, carb gaskets, float needle, throttle needle,idle mixture screw , new modern fuel shutoff valve, new intake rubber boot and air filter, magnetic drain plug, though not pictured I have the sediment bowl and filter assembly. It has a new filter, clamp , spacer, and nut. The glass bowl cracked and I am waiting on a replacement, should be in by the end of the auction. Drivetrain: new heavy duty drive couplings, new shift linkage bushings, wheel bearings greased, gear oil changed, 5 new tires and tubes, everything has been greased. Brake system: Completely rebuilt, new brake pads and master cylinder, rebuilt wheel cylinders, new steel and rubber brake lines( no brake fluid leaks), Body: new base gaskets under signals,door handle, hinges,lights,etc, new engine to body seal-large rubber seal on engine, new engine lid seal and lock w/key and the little rubbers it rest on, new silver moulding in windows, sunroof opening and bumpers, new battery and tray, new speedo cable and heater cable, steering column bushings-so no steering wheel wobble, door strut gas cartridge conversion so the door stays open, sunroof material, rear shocks.new rubber boot for the shifter to passenger cabin and hose from heat exchanger to cabin. The rear luggage rack and wing bolts have just been rechromed. Electrical: new battery, voltage regulator has been cleaned, dynastart brushes, all grounds and connections cleaned, Replaced all light bulbs, lights work great and bright, new brake light switch, new horn, .
