1978 R100S I am thinning out my fleet of motorcycles and I am offering this "S" model for sale. Purchased about 15 years ago with a locked up engine. I disassembled the engine and found that the engine had hydrauliced a connecting rod locking up the engine. (picture of the rod included) The previous owner had left the fuel petcocks in the "on" position while setting on the side stand. Fuel had flooded into the left cylinder and when he tried to start the engine the pure fuel did not compress and bent the connecting rod and locked up the engine. I did a complete engine overhaul with new main bearings, rod bearings, cam bearings, cam chain and sprockets. Cylinders were torque plate bored to .50mm oversize. Valve job on both cylinder heads. All new seals and gaskets installed. All bearing measuring and fitting, cylinder boring, and the valve job were done by RePsycle BMW. All parts used were genuine BMW. The rear wheel splines were worn, so I had the rear drive unit repaired by RePsycle BMW and I installed new splines in the rear wheel. The drive splines should be near 100%. A new Continental rear tire installed. New Yuasa battery Carburetors were cleaned and rebuilt. Petcocks rebuilt and new fuel lines installed. Stainless steel front brake hoses installed. Krauser heat shields on exhaust header pipes. Krauser saddle bags and mounts are included. An aftermarket chrome backrest is installed and can be easily removed for stock appearance. It has a new cover. "S" fairing has been patched and painted black, but is solid and very useable. Includes a taller smoke tinted windscreen in good condition. Gauges test good and included. Tool kit is partial. Clear Ohio title. The bike runs, rides, shifts, and brakes great. I have only put about 20 minutes on the engine and less than 3 miles on the bike since the work was completed, so the new owner should treat the engine as a new engine that requires a break-in period.
