Vehicle Detail

Here is something you don't see very often! This is an ORIGINAL "SURVIVOR" UN-RESTORED 1971 Ford Torino Station Wagon. This is a 2 seat, 6 passenger model. I am the third owner of this unique car. It was a true " barn find" that had never been driven in harsh winter conditions, and has only 39,000 original miles! This car is equipped with the reliable, economical "bullet proof" 250 cubic inch in-line 6 cylinder engine, automatic transmission, AM radio, power steering, and electric rear tailgate window. That is about it on the option list. The original owner wanted economy, simplicity, and reliability. Those goals were met with this nifty little wagon. This one has stood the test of time. I would say it is approximately 80% original paint. It is certainly not show quality, but still very presentable. Like any used car this age, there are some minor parking lot dings, but it has not been in a serious accident or rusted out like most cars this age. Still has all original body panels, sheet metal, floors, etc. Very solid. Clean underneath, not scaly or holes like you often see. Interior is exceptional, especially for a wagon! No cracks in dash. Door panels are very nice. No rips or tears in seats. Rear cargo area is also in great shape, not beat up like normally seen. The rubber floor mats are also exceptional, not torn or cracked. Truly this car was not abused. Mechanically, this wagon does great! Engine and transmission are very strong, as you would expect on a 39,000 mile car! Smooth and quiet. You would think it has a 302 under the hood, given the power. No abnormal noises, leaks, or smoke. I drove it on a 200 mile trip last week with no issues and got 22MPG on regular 87 unleaded gasoline. Steers well and holds the road nicely. It has had maintenance done that is usually required of low mileage cars. Cooling system was drained and flushed, brakes gone through, fuel system cleaned, carburetor rebuilt, new battery, tune up, and belts. I would not be afraid to drive this car anywhere. Tires are radials and have good tread. Here is a chance to get into the collector car hobby with a neat car that you don't see every day at a reasonable price! Pretend you are the Griswolds and take the family on a trip in the "Family Truckster"! This would be great on tours, in the "Survivor" class at shows, or as a basis for a cool "resto-rod"! Station wagons show a vanishing piece of American history, and are becoming quite collectible. Most were worked to death by large families or businesses, and very few survive in original condition like this. Remember, they are only original once! Don't miss this neat old car! NOW FOR THE RULES: If you have questions or need clarification on anything, get answers BEFORE you bid. Please don't bid, then try to change them afterward. If you don't intend to abide by the rules, please look elsewhere. 1. Your bid is a contract! If you are the successful bidder, you are expected to pay! Please have all contingencies handled and your money in place BEFORE you bid! No retractions will be allowed, so be sure BEFORE you bid! 2. A NON-REFUNDABLE $1000 partial payment is due within 48 hours of auction's conclusion. This can be by bank wire transfer or cashiers check. Pay Pal is NOT acceptable for this. 3. Balance is due within 7 days of auction's close. This can be by bank wire transfer, cashiers check or cash in person. If you are paying balance upon pickup of car, it must be cash in person. 4. Car and paperwork will not leave here until paid in full with cleared funds. If you are paying with ANY kind of check, it must clear MY bank before car or title will be released. No exceptions! 5. Car is sold strictly as-is at my premises with no guarantee or warranty of any kind. 6. Transportation is the buyer's responsibility. I will try to reasonably help and accommodate you any way I can, but it is still YOUR responsibility. 7. If you cannot pick up car immediately, that is fine, it can be left here for a reasonable period. However, it still must be paid for within the 7 days, and you should secure insurance as I cannot be responsible for loss or damage due to circumstances beyond my control or act of God. 9. Car is advertised locally for sale. If I find a buyer through that venue, I reserve the right to end auction early. Please call me at 704-661-1326 Cell with any further questions about this. Leave message if not in. IMPORTANT: PHONE CALLS ONLY. I DON'T KNOW HOW TO TEXT. 10. Due to the age of this vehicle, the ownership document is a transferrable registration. This is proof of ownership of all vehicles this model year. This will be reassigned to the new owner. I am sorry for all the rules, but it seems that 5% of difficult people spoil it for the 95% who are good. Thanks very much for l NO RESERVE! NO RESERVE! NO RESERVE! ABOUT ME: I have been a collector and enthusiast of Postwar American cars for nearly 40 years! I maintain a "rotating collection" of 6 to 10 such vehicles. Sometimes I sell one out of the collection to make way for a new arrival. I favor un-restored original "Survivor" cars from the late 1950s to mid 1970s.
