Vehicle Detail
“See the USA in your Chevrolet” 1951 Chevrolet DeLuxe Fleetline/Styleline 4-Dr Deluxe Sedan Ø 72,773 low miles Ø 1,600 miles on rebuilt engine Ø All Custom interior, crushed seats & custom headliner Ø Front Shade, Split Window & Fender skirts Ø Dayton Chrome Spoke Wire Wheels & new Radial Tires Ø “Low Rider” Type Suspension & Side exhaust Ø Split manifold & new dual exhaust ESTATE: This rare, low mileage Chevy has been owned by one family since 1992. It is a 99% rust free & solid survivor that came from Texas, and has always been well loved and garaged. This Chevy had a “custom type” low rider restoration done in the 90’s. All new custom vinyl & crushed velour type red seats & custom crushed red headliner. It was repainted & lowered, quality real chrome spokes 14" wire wheels & new tires. Engine has appx. 1,600 miles. Car runs smooth, drives nice and runs strong. There is no typical blow-by or oil, transmission shifts and operates nicely, this is a real cruiser. Owner had used the car for family fun, cruising on weekends and with grandkids, a weekend show car as you cans see by the past car show car show dash plaques. He was in the process of a custom show type makeover. The rear tail lights had been “Frenched” with inset ’37 Ford lights. Fake side-pipes & dummy spots added, a new split exhaust was installed to the rear through custom chrome “Caddy” exhaust tips. A professionally rebuilt motor, battery, hoses & belts. Stainless grill pieces were upgraded. A new Candy Apple Red paint job was planned for the car. The paint on the car now is older but very shiny, good driver quality with some touch ups, minor abrasions and edge wear. The car overall is an honest & solid 51 Chevy. Many new pieces are included in boxes plus some side trims, all new solid chrome door handles, chrome fender guard, full factory manuals & more. There is a hairline crack which does not obstruct driving passenger side front windshield; a replacement panel is only about $150.00. The original spare and fender skirts are in the trunk. You can see by photos underneath, and looking under the hood and trunk that this is a rare & very solid survivor! You will note below that this is the lst year of the Fleetline 4-Dr Dedan. I am assiting with sale and have had pleaseure to take this cruiser out for photos. It is a smooth running classic. A great car to make for your own “low rider” and weekend “SHOW & GO” type cruiser. 1951 Chevy Description: The newest thing about the 1951 model was its advertising slogan… “See the USA in your Chevrolet” was seen in print, heard on television in song from Dinah Shore. There were some changes for the 1951 model. The rear fenders were raised and squared off. The taillights were reshaped and moved to the trailing edges of the fenders. The grille featured newly pointed parking lights at the corners, and the center bar of the grille now wrapped around the parking lights. The side trim was all new. Drivers faced a redesigned instrument panel which featured two gauge pods. One carried the speedometer while the second housed the fuel, oil pressure, temperature, and ammeter gauges. All Deluxe models had a stainless steel molding starting above the fender and extending onto the doors. A deluxe name plate was mounted on each front fender. The stainless trim on the side of the 1951 Chevrolet Deluxe models was moved lower on the body to make the entire car look lower. Styleline Specials and Fleetline Specials had no chrome body strips or name plates. The only sheet metal changes made on the 1951 Chevrolet was the contour of the rear fenders. On the Deluxe models there was a strip of chrome running forward from the taillight along the top of the fender. Stainless steel trim strips which had outlined the rear fenders on the 1950 Chevrolet Deluxe models was deleted. DeLuxe Bel Airs also had a 39-hour wind-up clock inside. Mechanically little changed other than Bendix brakes replaced the Huck style brakes that had been used since the 1930s. Larger brake linings were advertised as "requiring 25% less pedal pressure." The two-speed PowerGlide transmission was offered as an option on all models. The options list grew longer and included the Vacuumatic Ashtray and turn signals. The 216.5 six cylinder (92hp) was mated to the three-speed manual tranny, while the larger 235 six (105hp) was reserved for the Powerglide. During 1951 both the Fleetline Special two-door and four-door models were discontinued. The Fleetline Deluxe four-door was next to be axed leaving only the Fleetline Deluxe two-door. SHOW & GO!!
