Vehicle Detail
1983 BMW 733i It’s finally time to sell my beautiful car. The factory Alpine White Paint still has plenty of shine, and the interior is beautiful and nearly perfect for it’s age. I’ve put about 20,000 miles on her over the past three years, and she is a fantastic highway cruiser. My favorite feature is definitely the telephone like OBC, which still works, and will tell you MPG, Range, etc. The transmission shifts smooth, the breaks are good, the ac blows cold as long as you refill it every two years, and all the electronics work. If you’re looking chances are you already know a lot about this car, and that they can last for hundreds of thousands of miles if they’re maintained well. This one has been, and I have several folders filled with records to prove it. The car was purchased at Open Road BMW in Edison, NJ in 1984 and the same female owner drove it until 2008. She then sold it to a mechanic whom I brought it from in March of 2011. Since having it I have put about 2,000 miles on it and I routinely drive her to and from Maine (380 miles each way). This car is not a grey market import; it was made for the United States. This makes it even more rare, as very few US-Spec manual transmissions were made. The advantage of a US Spec is apparent when you try and insure the vehicle, and when you try and get it inspected. I have two sets of wheels for this car: one is the factory with Firestone tires (snow on the rears), and the other is 15in Moda by BBS with two pairs of Michelins and Continentals. I routinely put serious mileage on this car and would not hesitate to drive it across the country, with that being said I have compiled a list of work done and work that should be done in the future, in addition to routine maintenance at the mechanic I brought her from. Please review the list and pictures, and contact me if you have any questions or would like to come check out the beast. Fixes over the past two years: - Brand New Stock Muffler
- New SI Board
- New Antenna (stub)
- New Kenwood CD Player with IPod+Pandora Support - Rebuilt Alternator - New Shift Knob -
New Clutch Master Cylinder
- New Clutch Line
- New Transmission Cross member
- New Blower Motor
- New Fan Blade (needs new fan clutch) -
Installed Parking Sensors
- New Drive Belts - Replaced On-board computer - New Koni shocks and refurbished mounts in the rear - New brake pads - New transmission mounts - New code cut key - New hood struts - New flex disc - New steering center link The following improvements can be made: - Fan clutch engages when engine isn’t running hot - Front struts don’t sag or bounce but are not on par with new rear shocks - Driver door keyhole is finicky so I lock the car from the inside – but I do have a rebuild kit - Headlights are wired around relay but they do work just fine - Some rust on the rear body panels near the rear wheel well – it has not spread over the past three years and it’s isolated to two small areas - Cruise control does not work - Outside temperature sensor is not even close to accurate
