Vehicle Detail
I am the original owner and purchased it back in 1971. The speedometer/odometer went out many years ago but I'd estimate that it has around a little over 90,000 miles on it. The clutch was changed once and I had a professional mechanic modify/change the valves, stems and seats so it could take unleaded gasoline a little after it lead gasoline was discontinued in California. Some slight rust under the rocker panel on both sides of the car. I'd say it's not serious since California weather is so dry 95% of the time. Also, it has been mostly garaged 98% of its life. I've drove it very little since I retired in 2003. Maybe a total of 2000 miles if that. Leaks very little oil. Replaced the original SU carburetors with a more reliable Weber DGV carburetor. With the Weber, it runs smoother and doesn't need constant adjustment as the old SU's. I got tired of replacing the two 6 volt batteries and so I replaced it with one 12 volt battery that's a lot cheaper and more reliable. I've always found it very easy to start the car. Usually, nearly always on the first try (the manual choke is wonderful). Replaced the seats with a custom vinyl MGB kit once and wore through that so I now have custom seat covers. All in all, it's in pretty good shape. I just don't drive it that much so I thought that some else could get better use out of it.
