Vehicle Detail

This is a 1976 Lotus Elite. Although it is a bit of a project car it is running and driving and is currently licensed. The chassis looks to be in very good condition with only light surface rust showing in spots. The shooting brake glass fibre body is in excellent condition with no signs of accident damage or repair, there are a few very minor chips here and there. The paint is very faded and dull and has lots of chips and flaws but still overall the car looks quite striking. Mechanically the car is in good condition. The twin cam 2 litre 907 engine starts fairly easy and has great oil pressure. The person I bought it from had recently rebuilt the head and they did a good job except the valve adjustments are all too large so the engine is quite ticky sounding. The valves are adjusted by shims so adjusting them takes a bit of effort and a supply of the appropriate shims (these are readily available from Lotus and other British car parts dealers). The 5 speed gearbox shifts nice through all gears without any problems. The clutch works excellent. The brakes are good but the pedal does travel rather far. The handbrake works. It has power steering and it does work. The charging system works and the electrics are mostly all working. Lights, turn signals, wiper, radio all work. It has functioning heat and defrost. The vacuum operated head lamps go up and down. oil, fuel, volts and temperature gauges all work. The rev counter and speedometer do not work. The electric power windows go up and down but quite slowly. The original air cleaner housing is included but damaged and not installed. The Interior is quite rough. It has no carpet or headliner. All the trim pieces are here but will need to be recovered. The front seats are in very poor condition but actually still quite comfortable to sit in. The black vinyl dashboard is in generally very nice shape. The glass on the car is all excellent and the aluminum trim around all the windows is in very good condition too. The original wheels are all decent and the tyres are old but still quite usable. It does have a spare in the back (mounted under the trunk). Overall this car is in pretty decent condition with the worst parts being the paint and interior but it should be considered a project and will undoubtedly need attention and therefore should go to someone that's willing to tinker with it. It has a clear WA state title and is currently licensed. It comes with the original factory service manual. Buyer is responsible for shipping costs and arrangements. The Elite can be viewed by appointment in Granite Falls, WA (near Seattle). I highly recommend and encourage a personal inspection if possible. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Must be picked up within 30 days. Feel free to ask any questions. Please watch the video of this Lotus in action:
