Vehicle Detail
Here's my PERSONAL car. Love this color! One of the many projects that I have goin...time to thin out the hoard!! I just sold (GAVE AWAY) my 1995 850R too! Way too many...MY LOSS YOUR GAIN! NO RESERVE! ABSOLUTE SALE! Beautiful 1 of 113 Saffron cars sent to the North American continent in 1998. Some went to Canada so there are most likely less than 90 left on the road. Not pristine by any means, but a stellar version to make your daily driver and be one of a kind while doing it! The immediate eyesore can be seen here...the crappy 3M so-called "clear protective hoodliner". Garbage gimmick there to "save your hood from chips" only to dry out and fade. I've been randomly peeling it off during the hot sunny days. Comes right off if you sit there on a 70+ sunny day. I haven't had the time. When done, you may be able to save it via wetsand and buff. Minimal rockchips at least!! LOL! The front "R" only bumper cover is nice with minimal chips. No damages, cracks or holes. One rockchip in the left headlight lens. Driving lights work properly. Only a handful of dings can be found. All easily dentbusted if desired. No rust to be found or seen. Body panels are super straight. The Autocheck showed this car to be a 2 owner car....the title shows ownership back to 30k miles in IL. Yet the stickers and registration show a Colorado register. After some minor research and the sitckers on the car saying so, I've concluded that the car stayed within the same family. Bought from new from the parents, the car was handed over to a son or daughter to drive to college, hence the massive miles anf Colorado parking tags, etc. It basically stayed within the same family until I bought it 2 years ago. Being a dealer, I've never titled it under my name. It's basically sat in my heated shop for almost 2 years until now!! Below you can see the matching Nexus tires have decent tread left. Altho, being from an S60, these tires are one size too big at a 235/45/17 size. They need to be the 225/45/17 to fit perfectly. Only a bit of rub on the inner during full turns. I think these wheels look excellent!! Nice change over the original 16" units. Unseen are the new front brakes and turned rotors. Rear bumper cover looks great with minimal fade and clearcoat flake. No damages, holes or cracks. Factory issued wing looks great! Up high on the passenger fender by the door you can see the ONE dent/scratch. I forgot to take an up close shot. About 4 inches long. Aside the silly front "clear bra" the exterior is an easy 8 out of 10. Interior is also an easy 8 out of 10 altho a professional detail would easily bump it to a 9. It has all the correct "R" only interior items, floormats, books, two tone steering wheel (painted upper portion tho), two tone leather seating, aluminum trim panels, two tone stitched door panels, blue gauges, etc. Hardly any driver's bolster wear, no holes or damages in the seating or leather to be found. Here's a shot to show the dummy lights illuminate upon startup as they should with only the random ABS/TRAC staying on. Super easy fix which, again, I don't have time to do. Takes about an hour to remove, open up and re-solder. You can see I've driven the car in it's current state over 100 miles. See below for details. Everything power works as it should: windows, heated power mirrors, sunroof, heated power seating, dual climate control (2 years ago the AC was ICE COLD but will need a recharge now/heater core is due for a change as well-another $75 part and one hour to replace), info panel, transmission modes, AM/FM/CD/CASS, lighting, cruise, etc. I hate smoke and can't see or smell any signs of a former smoker. Carpet is clean. Everything looks great. Below you can see the original intake/throttle body and new head gasket (see below for details), original weathered factory manuals, correct factory "R" only floormats and I upgraded the passenger knee bolster with the 1999 up S/V70 map pocket(it's missing the glovebox pocket which can be removed from any 70 series but all the screws are there). Remove two brackets and it will bolt right in. Complete factory proper spare setup is intact. Only one key and One working keyfob included. This is NOT the transponder type key which wasn't started until 99. On to the heart of this car....the engine. No signs of any major oil or coolant leaks. No overheating. BRAND NEW Duralast battery. BRAND NEW Contitech Timing Belt and mechanical tensioner installed 103 miles ago. Water pump is fine. Pullies are fine. BRAND NEW PCV housing(hoped this was the culprit to my smoking originally) and clamps along with random new vacuum lines. For mods purposes, I installed a NON-Turbo intake manifold and throttle body along with the 960 throttle blade. Can definitely tell better throttle response. Also installed are the FCP (Sampco style) Black intercooler hoses and clamps. Naturally I had to modify and make intake adapters to fit the bigger TB. All professional by yours truly. I also ported the TB opening to match the TB properly but did not port match to the head. Plans for later. BRAND NEW spark plugs and Belkin spark plug wires! BRAND NEW upper strut cushions were also installed. BUT....here's the issue...the head gasket. It's a smoker. The car starts and runs perfectly and smoothly. I've tried the shiesty-seal additives to try and hold me over...nothing. Too big to plug up, too small to affect the way it runs. Not even overheating. MY LOSS YOUR GAIN!! A 12 pack of beer, a buddy and a weekend fixes this problem and costs you NOTHING but time since I'm giving you the BRAND NEW HEAD GASKET!! I't NOT contaminating the oil, in fact...THAT's perfectly clean as well. I've also changed the trans fluid way back when I firt got the car. If you intend to be a purist, the original intake and TB are included to return to stock at any time. The ONLY other issues I know of are the usual...heater core is on it's way out, left front wheel bearing is starting to howl (probably from sitting), the obvious head gasket, and typical AWD 65-70 MPH driveshaft flutter. The car drives nice and straight (formerly with the old wheels and tires at least). Suspension is tight and noise/rattle free, in fact a receipt shows new lower control arms from Volvo of Lisle. Brakes work perfectly with no probs or noises. Transmission shifts as it should. Price out the T5 S60 rims and tires. OWN A PIECE OF HISTORY!! I can't afford tens of thousands of dollars muscle cars....own this instead for a fraction, fix it, have fun and sell it for profit!! No brainer. You can drive it home if you want, but that's your gamble. 103 miles and aside the smoking, it's been OK. I suggest trailering it home tho. BID and BUY with 100% CONFIDENCE!! NO RESERVE!! GOOD LUCK!!
