Vehicle Detail
Here for your consideration is a 1991 BMW 318i E30 with the 1.8L DOHC with the M42 engine. This car was produced on February 14, 1991 in Regensburg Germany. Manufactured with a 5 speed manual transmission. It’s a white 4 door sedan with air conditioning and a manual slide/tilt sunroof. Gray to dark blue cloth interior with the dashboard and center column trimmed in black. Vin # WBAAJ9314MEJ06063 (All doors, fenders & trunk have matching numbers to vin #) CARFAX shows no accident / damage history with 12 detailed reports available. I purchased this car from my neighbor back in 2009 who was the original owner. The car drives straight, shifts properly, turns easily and brakes perfectly. Last year I replaced the lower control arms with Lemforder control arms and polyurethane boots then had it aligned. Back in 2009 when I purchased the car I replaced all the stock shocks with KYB shocks, then put steel braided brake lines on all calipers along with slotted disc rotors with matching brake pads all the way around. The engine and drivetrain are original and the car interior is clean with no cracks in the dash. The stock wheels and tires were removed and replaced with a set of Yokohama S drive 205/55R-15 tires on Sport Tuning wheels which were obtained from tirerack.com as a wheel & tire package. Other features we’ve added since we took possession is a Pioneer remote Radio/Disc player, new halo headlights, tinted windows, and a Viper remote Locking System for the two front doors which is a convenient feature. Things that are not working or have flaws: Odometer: The odometer stopped working last month but speedometer works fine. I noticed this after I filled up the car with gas and zero out the odometer and on the way home noticed it wasn’t turning. Research on the internet showed that this is very common issue with these cars at this amount of years & mileage. Below is how you can fix it. Basically you will need to remove the instrument cluster and replace some plastic gears. The instrument cluster is a “MotoMeter” which you will need to know when ordering the gears. As a result this car will have a few more miles than indicated. http://garagistic.com/index.php?page=how-to-tell-if-your-e30-has-a-vdo-or-motometer-gauge-cluster L.H. Passenger Door & Window: The left rear passenger door does not lock electrically nor will the window go up and down. The door locks manually. All other doors and windows operate perfectly. Air Conditioner: Air Conditioning works but does not get cold. AC compressor runs and the blue light on instrument panel comes on but the air coming out of the vents does not get cold. Passenger Seat & Back Seat: There are a couple of small spots of white paint on the lumbar section of the front passenger seat and the backseat cloth material is beginning to separate in the middle of the backseat. (I took pictures of both so you can see the extent of the paint & separation of material) Headlights: Operate and illuminate as designed but the hi-beam feature does not work. Basically the car has a 4 wire headlight system but the new halo headlights only have a 3 wire system so the hi-beam feature was not wired. Panel Corrosion: Lastly, there is one rusted out spot on the lower aft RH Fender body panel right behind the RH front tire. (See photograph of displaced material) I have been somewhat over critical of this vehicle as I do not want to mislead anyone here with this listing. I have done my very best to describe to you to the best of my ability everything I know about this car so you can make an informed decision prior to bidding. Feel free to message me with any questions you should have and I will get back to you as soon as I possibly can. The car is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end this auction at any time. I can make myself available for test drives and have the CARFAX, which I can provide upon request. This vehicle is being sold “As Is” without WARRANTY of any kind, either expressed or implied. There will be a $300 Paypal deposit required 24 hours after the auction closes. The car *will not* leave my possession until funding is complete and my financial institution informs me the funds in my account are valid. The winning bidder also will have one week from auction close to pick up the vehicle. If for any reason the winning bidder is not 100% satisfied with our car I will refund them their deposit without question.
