Vehicle Detail

Owned by my ole dad since the 1980's. Have clear title. Over the last four years have done major work. Off the road in storage for many years but regularly run for last four years. Currently starts easy and runs, little more work needed to be daily driven but all the hard stuff is done! Body: No rust. Car did have some rust but has all been repaired. New mid and outer sills. An extra sill panel was added per the Wolf Steel recommendation. Some floor repair, basically in the footwells. Used combination of panels from Wolf steel, Centerline, and Classic Alfa UK. The body is now super stiff with seam welded sills. I believe I read a long time ago that one could jack up a 115 Alfa and disrupt how the doors work (though I might be remembering a Morgan article!). Well, this car has a rock solid body, when jacking on the corners no change. Also replaced the nose by the grill (I need to ad a picture of this) with an expensive repair panel from Classic Alfa UK, as well as rear wheel arches. Work has been done right. Underside has been thoroughly rust proofed with POR 15 used extensively over all solid steel, seem sealer where appropriate. Outer body has several coats of epoxy primer, block sanded and ready for high build primer. Letting next buyer decide type of paint and quality. Minimal prep needed Interior. Stripped out for rust repair, floors coated in POR 15. Original mats and rubber in good condition, quite usable. Brand new center carpet custom made from pattern many years ago, believe it was Wilton carpet. Seats are comfortable and work, obviously some holes patched. Rear drape in good shape with new canvas hanging material sewn in. Interior is clean, no animal damage or anything like that. Left original so new owner can choose if they want to change color or go with full carpet. Seat belt mounts good, no belts but ready to bolt in. Dash is original and in very good shape. Engine. Great oil pressure, no sign of leaks or oil/coolant mixing except since removing the valve cover to check valves has a slight leak. Do not remember specifics, but about 4 valves were within spec and the other four only off a thousandth or two. Motor is mechanically quiet and believed to be the original. I do not think it has every been touched. Again, this car was bought in the 80's and not driven but a few hundred miles since. I have driven it around the neighborhood but has had no plates in decades. Coolant and oil/filter are fresh. Carbs have been cleaned with new floats and needle valves and various o rings and gaskets (Webers have very few of either) and new rubber manifolds added long time ago. New plugs and wires, fuel pump, fuel filter/pressure regulator, hard and soft fuel lines. Ignition timing and advance good. Currently the car starts right up but does not take load well. It was revving and driving before I messed around with the carbs so some carb adjustments or further cleaning needed it seems. Because of this is not currently drivable but as mentioned it starts on the button. Fuel tank was not rusty but did POR fuel tank lining as it was bone dry coming out of storage so easy to do. Exhaust system all new from Centerline with Ansa rear section. Currrently has a radiator from a later spider. The mounting for it looks factory, though is a slight modification. I also have an overflow tank I wanted to install as well as parts to convert to rear battery position if one should wish. Transmission/Clutch. New Castrol gear oil. Shifts through gears nicely, including 2nd gear. New clutch disc and cable. New rubber center bearing carrier. No leaking from rear seal of engine or transmission. Suspension: Many new ball joints and tie rod ends, replaced as needed. Older Koni shocks (painted black now as they were rusty) seem to work fine and don't leak. New rear axle straps and stops. All bushings appear sound. Tires are old XWXs but lots of tread, usable to sort the car out but obviously new tires in future needed. Wheels appear to be Duetto original but were chromed at one point. I had some leftover Giulia hub caps so have added those, like them a lot better than original Duetto caps. Brakes: Car used to have Dunlops, and this was why it was off the road for so long. Complete brake system has been replaced with everything needed from a (California) 82 Spider. Calipers were rebuilt by an old Alfa mechanic I met through eBay, all rotors resurfaced. Front bearings serviced. All new pads and new master cylinder. Brakes work well, pedal firm. Some new lines as needed. Rear axle was also replaced form the 82. Have all original parts including axle. Electrical. Generator was tested awhile back and works, all gauges work, new fuel sender. All lights work including brake lights and turn signal flasher. The wiring harness is in excellent condition, has never been messed with or chewed on by mice. Blower motor and windshield wiper work. I disconnected the heater core just to minimize the variables when getting the car running, easily reconnected in a few minutes. Many other little things taken care of like new tubing for the washer pump! Top frame has been disassembled and bushings replaced, works wonderfully. Needs a new top, ready to install. All related parts included. Again, leaving for new owner to decide top material and color Have kept some receipts, lots of money spent on new parts either from Centerline or Classic Alfa UK. Missing one lollipop rear reflector, reverse light, side markers (wiring is there), some rubber trim to replace. Pretty much everything else is there, chrome and stainless steel trim is nice. Key for doors. This is an incredibly solid car just needing a new owner. It is something one can use and improve as you go (once running right). I do not have the time to finish and am ready to move on, have other car and house projects. It will make a great usable Alfa as it will never rust again but isn't so original that it would be sad to modify it. If local Italian cars fans have something to trade plus cash I MAY be interested in a (ready to drive) fuel injected Fiat, Lancia, or Alfa. However, plan on buying the car for the winning bid. Please ask questions. Shipping is the responsibility of the new owner.
