Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a nice 1984 CR500, first year for the 500 and last year for air cooling. This bike is a beast, it flat out rips, the amount of torque is incredible. I would call this bike a survivor considering it is 30 years old, and still has the original seat cover and swingarm stickers. Usually these bikes were pounded into the ground and not taken care of. The bike certainly shows signs of use, and most likely has been used every year since it was made. I don't know the history of it, I bought it from a guy who bought it from a friend that supposedly worked at a motorcycle repair shop. I was told, the friend of the guy I bought it from had rebuilt the engine. I have no receipts or proof what so ever. I can see new head and base gaskets, along with the correct hondabond case sealant so the cases were split at some point, but the extent of a rebuild I don't know. I can say that it has an incredible amount of compression, and the engine makes no noises, the clutch works perfect, and it shifts perfect. If you kick it correctly it will start right up within a few kicks when cold. I haven't owned the bike very long, and haven't done anything to it other than give it a good cleaning. Some things I did notice were the rear tire is half tread, the front tire (possibly original) is dryrotted, the seatcover has a small hole, the pipe leaks at the cylinder (probably missing an o-ring), the muffler leaks where it meets the pipe, the chain an sprockets are worn, frame paint isn't the best, the cylinder has several broken fins that apper to have been epoxied back on (doesnt hurt anything, just appearance), and the plastic cooling shrouds are missing. So overall I would call this a great project bike that is intact and would make a very easy restoration project. Or tend to a few items and ride it. It has a new front and rear fender, and side panels, the front number plate is cracked, nice pro circuilt pipe and DG silencer. Any questions just ask. Bike is sold as is, no warranty. Pick up only, no delivery. I will ship it as long as it's paid for in full, and it's picked up at my house, and you make all arrangements. Payment within 10 days after the auction ends. Bike also does NOT have a titleOn Apr-27-14 at 15:03:13 PDT, seller added the following information: Couple more things I wanted to mention is the chain slider on the front of the swingarm is missing, but luckily the chain hasn't rubbed into the swingarm, and also both footpets are worn out, and one is actually cracked. The kill switch also is inop, it's there just doesn't kill the engine, probably very simple there isn't much to it.
