Vehicle Detail

This is a 1950 Willys CJ3A Jeep, Serial # 56202. It has been "sided" with plywood because the body is pretty well shot; if you can get by that, this CJ3A is perfect for a restoration (or you can drive it as is). The original data tag is on the firewall. I bought this jeep with the intention of plowing my driveway' downsizing from a pickup. I had an old original plow setup for CJ2A that I parted out. I hoped that the plow would just fit on, but it will need a slight mod to make it work (see Plow section below). I have enough vehicle projects going on, so I decided to sell it. Although it looks ugly, this is the project folks look for; buy a body for it and that's it.... off you go. It hasn't been stripped, you won't spend a lot of time and money buying all the parts, little parts, etc. Or you can drive it as is..... Please look closely at the photos to see beyond the plywood sides. THIS JEEP ONLY COMES WITH A BILL OF SALE. EBAY FORCES ME TO ASSIGN SOMETHING THUS THE REBUILABLE CATEGORY. ENGINE: It has a Kaiser Supersonic L134 motor, runs smooth, no noises and no smoke; The Supersonic produced higher compression than the standard Willys L134. No oil leaks at all. It has a foot starter and although it turns slowly (older battery or dirty starter brushes?) once it catches, she fires right up... no smoke; around 40 lbs of oil pressure. It looks to have the original starter and generator. It has the engine pulley shield and the master cylinder shield RADIATOR: It looks to have been re-cored, old style honeycomb (no leaks), setup with a heater (turned it on, fan moves slowly); TRANSMISSION: T90 I drove it around the yard and my cul-de-sac, Reverse, 1st and 2nd shifted great, didn't have a chance to get it into 3rd (not enough road). There is grease/oil/dirt on the transmission, skidplate and transfer case, but they don't drip or weep. No stains on my floor. Has a very early style of lockout hubs. WINDSHIELD: Drivers vacuum assisted windshield wiper (works); passenger electric wiper motor (works...needs arm and blade); windshield is solid, has manmade holes to repair, has all channels for soft top doors; center vent opens and closes LIGHTING: headlights (one burnt out, replacement included) and taillights work, as well as the plow lights. It has the original horn (works) FUEL & EXHAUST: Has the correct Carter WO carb; vacuum assisted fuel pump (looks original); fuel tank looks reconditioned and has the correct strap; older exhaust pipes, good condition, not rotted, no holes; newer muffler; Donaldson Air Cleaner and correct crossover tube. BRAKES: It stopped when I used them, master cylinder looks newer. The handbrake setup is complete (external), probably needs adjusting as it's stiff. FRAME: The frame is in remarkable shape for being 64 years old, Probably the best frame I've seen on a CJ. The rear crossmember has a ding near the hole where the PTO shaft would exit (see photo) SUSPENSION: Looks great, spring packs look perfect (see photo of stenciling (?181-980 still visible on the front packs). GAUGES: The speedo is nice, and works; oil and amp gauges register correctly; fuel gauge seems to work, there's about 1/4 tank of gas and it registers that when power is on; temperature gauge isn't functioning TIRES & RIMS: Rims are really nice, no pitting; tires are old and have sidewall cracking, but the tread looks brand new (not capped)...maybe because it was used on a farm it saw very little pavement use. SEATS: Motorhead friend said that they looked to be from a 60's Camaro, GTO or Chevelle. If they are, they are worth some money. Passenger seats hinges for a Willys seat are still there and in good shape TAILGATE: Some dents and dings, doesn't seem rusted. Plywood covers the outside, inside shows no rust holes or rust damaged. Hinges are in good shape. PLOW: Has a HI-LO Plow pump that works fine (up and down only). Plow frame was expertly attached; they welded plates in the inside rails on the front. The frame horns are original and undamaged. It has the original bumper as well and it's in good shape; If you didn't want the plow, you could remove the plates and the front end would look almost new. The plow is the original kind you see in the old Willys advertisements; single center piston and the angle adjusted manually. The plow came with another jeep but the frame attach bracket doesn't lineup with the one that's on the CJ3A. I've included the frame bracket that came with the plow and other parts. You could modify the one on the jeep, or remove it and attach this one. OTHER STUFF: Comes with replacement headlight for the one burnt out. Two poles for the soft top. The brackets for the soft top doors are on the tub and the old style brackets for the door pivot are there as well. Jack and handle, not sure it they are original. The original spare tire carrier. Please email me with any questions. Unfortunately, there is only a bill of sale included. All sales final, sold as is, no expressed warranty. If you would like to see the CJ3A, please email me to setup a time. As I said, look past the body and you see a gem.
