You will have to look long and hard to fine a better 1967 Transporter than this one ! BUS is a 1967 Volkswagen Microbus 11 window. The nut and bolt restoration was completed in August 2010 – (see build photos # 21, 22, 23 & 24) Replaced both rockers, and small area in the front floor, just forward of each fender well, was cut out and re-welded with NEW steel (repaired correctly, NOT patched, NO shortcuts taken in restoring this one) NO RUST IN THIS BUS ! The under carriage is original to the bus, never been restored, I assume the undercoating was applied by the dealer, as with all VW's they never were undercoated by the factory. The bus was built in Hanover, German according to the VIN plate # 227142104 in June of 1967. The Build plate behind the front seat is photo # 20. Bus runs great and shifts very smooth in all gears, a real joy to drive, and turns heads wherever you travel. Garage keep since being restored ENGINE has less than 300 miles on it, installed April, 2014 is not original to this bus. JCS Volks Machine in Irwindale, CA supplied the 1971 dual port 1600cc R/M LONG BLOCK. NEW generator, NEW starter, NEW voltage regulator. NEW Mileage Maker CB intake and 34 carb. Dog House oil cooler shroud, (VW started using these in 1971 because it delivers better cooling for # 3 & # 4 cylinder heads). The outside air intakes also delivers extra air flow for cooling to the engine. Adjust the values with each oil change, and this engine will last you a long time ! TRANSMISSION has 3,250 miles on it. The 1967 12 volt big nut transmission is not original to this bus, it was REBUILT by Jeff Hulbert of Joe Gibbs Racing with NEW OEM 3.88 ring and pinion. New bearings in the reduction boxes, with OEM one piece boots. The 3.88 ring and pinion will allow bus to cruise at 60 on the highway. NEW clutch 200mm, NEW release bearing, NEW OEM shift extension and NEW OEM shifter coupler. BODY WORK & PAINT NO RUST IN THIS BUS – After all body work was finished, the body was sprayed in DP90 epoxy primer, then primed with PPG K36 High Build primer and block sanded before 3 coats of color. The final 3 coats were 2100 High Solid Clear. Then the bus was color sanded before being buffed to a great shine. Colors are Sky Blue, and Vanilla Shake – These are not VW original colors. (pint of each included for touch ups) Original parts we used when we could fine them, and parts were replaced with best available. I.E. The head light housing are original HELLA, turn signal lenses are NEW OTHER IMPROVEMENTS Bus looks original however what you can't see is: NEW CSP WIDE FIVE disc brake kit on front, NEW drums on rear. NEW brake hoses. REBUILT Wolfgang International steering box, topped off with a NEW steering wheel. NEW Windshields, note, all other glass is original to this bus. Only one of the window frames is original, other 5 had to be NEW replacement frames. TMI seat covers with new padding. The Del Mar Retro Bed kit is very simple to operate, and changes the rear seat into a bed in seconds. (Use with air mattress) - Sleep like a baby in this double size bed. ALL NEW rubber seals throughout. NEW sun-visors - NEW door, front and rear panels. NEW Wolfsburg West headlight relay. NEW Wolfsburg West wiring harness. NEW outside mirrors. NEW headliner, NEW brake master cylinder, NEW stocks. NEW Wolfsburg West 10 gallon gas tank - (see photo # 17) NEW NOS VDO gas tank sending unit – YES the gas gauge works. NEW carpet with original black mat in back seat area, and new Wolfsburg West front mat. NEW Wolfsburg Retrosound Vintage Style Digital AM/FM Radio with USB/MP3 ports GENERAL INFO 2 speed wiper motor works great, with rare washer bottle, however the washer bottle does not work, due to a missing part inside of it. 5 NEW BF Goodrich Touring T/A 195x70x14 installed March 2014 - Note the original 14 inch rims were sand blasted, primed, and then plated WHITE. Hubcaps are original. Bumper over riders were to far gone to fix, so bumpers were sand blasted, welded up, primed and painted WHITE as you see them now. Yes the odometer works - odometer is NOT original to this bus. No way of knowing total bus mileage, since the odometer was not working until it was replaced in May 2012 reading 10,392, and todays reading is 13,468. Battery tested last week at Advance Auto - TESTED GOOD 13.23 volts. Heat works great, both front and rear. The back inside dome light DOES NOT work. Clear North Carolina title in hand.
