Vehicle Detail
Here is an absolutely beautiful example of an ALL ORIGINAL SURVIVOR STOCK 1979 Corvette L-48 Coupe. This is one of the most original un-restored examples I have seen in a long time! At the time of the start of this listing, it has 71,172 miles. May end up having a few more at the end due to short rides, test drives, etc. This Corvette has the following equipment: 1. 350 V8 engine with 4 barrel carburetor. 2. Power steering & brakes 3. Automatic transmission 4. Tilt & telescoping steering wheel 5. Air conditioning (converted to R-134) 6. Power windows & locks 7. AM FM stereo with CD player 8. Leather seats 9. Glass T-tops. I am the third owner of this Corvette. It is very obvious that it has always been garaged and left under cover. It still retains its original paint, which is still extremely nice and shiny. Not stress cracked, flaking, or dull like you usually see on Survivor Corvettes. Of course, there are some small stone chips and nicks here and there as you would expect on any used auto, but this looks better than many 4 and 5 year olds I have seen. Also, the red leather interior is really nice! It is still a nice bright red, not faded and brownish looking like most. Leather on seats is exceptionally nice, not all cracked up or ripped like normal. Dash is not cracked; door panels are also nice bright red and not cracked up. Body is really straight, and I can't find any evidence of prior crash damage or body repair. Even the tail light panel is the original rubber one with original paint, NOT the usual cheesy after market hard plastic reproduction. Car has not been driven in any kind of winter weather. It is nice underneath, not rusty or scaly. Flip up headlights still go up and down properly with no issues. Glass T-Tops are very nice, not scratched or cracked. They fit well and are not leakers. Gaskets are good. This Corvette is all original under the hood, with original engine and transmission. Other than regular maintenance such as tune ups and oil changes, nothing has been changed or altered on this car. No headers, chrome accessories, or any of that other stupid stuff that detracts from a Corvette's value. Still even has the original intake, air cleaner, and Rochester Quadra-Jet carburetor. Everywhere you look on this car just says ORIGINAL SURVIVOR! In fact, the only deviations from original that I have seen are as follows: 1. Original AM/FM radio was replaced by a modern stereo by original owner. Fits in dash nicely, not hacked up. 2. Air conditioning was redone and changed over from R-12 to R-134. Engine and drive train are very strong. Transmission shifts well. No smoking, abnormal noises, or anything out of the ordinary. Engine starts right up, automatic choke and fast idle work as they should. Engine has a lot of power. Car rides and handles as a Corvette from this era should. Obviously not like a new Corvette, but that is like comparing apples and oranges. Car does very well on the road. Here are the things I feel like the car would need: 1. Missing 1 of the plastic center caps for the aluminum wheels. Available here on Ebay and at car shows for $25 or less. 2. Clock does not work. 3. The rod or cable that connects to the slider control in the console for the a/c and heat has apparently slipped off and needs to be re-attached. 4. If you are going to show the car, you would probably want to take a little time and detail it to that next level. This is a great vintage Corvette to use as it is as a "driver" or tour car, but I think given its originality and being so stock, it would be far better to spend a couple weekends really detailing it up for show and entering it in Corvette and other classic car shows in the Un-Restored Stock Original Survivor Classes. I think it would do very well in that situation. Remember, anyone can restore one, but they are only original ONCE! These Survivors are getting harder and harder to find! I have seen a lot of these 1974 to 1982 Corvettes, and very few are as unmolested and original as this one. Here is a chance to get into the Corvette hobby with a great looking coupe that has great colors and won't break the bank! This car gets attention no matter where you go! Don't miss this beauty! Please call me at 704-661-1326 with any questions. I am thinning down my car collection and am selling the Corvette as I am a bigger guy with some back problems, so it can be a little difficult for me to get in and out. Consequently, I don't use this car as much as I should. I should also tell you that last summer I sold my other Corvette, a 1980 coupe with similar miles, but not as nice, nor as good a color combination for over $10,000. I am starting this one at a low starting price and selling at NO RESERVE! Please understand it is for sale locally, and I reserve right to end auction early if it sells through that venue. Honestly, oftentimes my cars do end up selling that way. Please call me with any questions about this or if you need further information. 704-661-1326 NO RESERVE!!! NO RESERVE!!! NO RESERVE!!! NO RESERVE!!! ABOUT ME: I have been a collector and enthusiast of Postwar American cars for nearly 40 years! I maintain a "rotating collection" of 6 to 10 such vehicles. Sometimes I sell one out of the collection to make way for a new arrival. I favor nice stock "Survivor" cars from the late 1950s to mid 1970s. I have been at the same location for 27 years. I am in the Charlotte, NC area, about 30 minutes from the city. Now for the rules: IMPORTANT: Please read and understand these rules BEFORE bidding. They are part of the listing terms and contract you are agreeing to when you bid. Please DO NOT bid, then try to change them later. That's not how it works. If you have questions, please ask and get answers BEFORE you bid. If you don't intend to abide by the rules, please look elsewhere. 1. Your bid is a contract! If you are the successful bidder, you are expected to pay! Please have all contingencies handled and your money in place BEFORE you bid! No retractions will be allowed, so be sure BEFORE you bid! 2. A NON-REFUNDABLE $1500 partial payment is due within 48 hours of auction's conclusion. This can be by bank wire transfer or cashiers check. Pay Pal is NOT acceptable for this. 3. Balance is due within 7 days of auction's close. This can be by bank wire transfer, cashiers check or cash in person. If you are paying balance upon pickup of car, it must be cash in person. 4. Car and title will not leave here until paid in full with cleared funds. If you are paying with ANY kind of check, it must clear MY bank before car or title will be released. No exceptions! 5. Car is sold strictly as-is at my premises with no guarantee or warranty of any kind. 6. Transportation is the buyer's responsibility. I will try to reasonably help and accommodate you any way I can, but it is still YOUR responsibility. 7. If you cannot pick up car immediately, that is fine, it can be kept for a reasonable period. However, it still must be paid for within the 7 days, and you should secure insurance as I cannot be responsible for loss or damage due to circumstances beyond my control or act of God. I will be at my out of state summer home sometime after the first of May. Car can still be picked up after that time, just let me know to make arrangements, as I have someone who can keep car and meet transporter. 9. Car is advertised locally for sale. If I find a ready buyer through that venue, I reserve the right to end auction early. Please call me at 704-661-1326 with any further questions about this. 10. If you have been an Ebay member for less than a year and/or have less than 10 feedbacks, and/or have less than a 95% rating, you MUST contact me BEFORE you bid. Failure to do this may result in my cancelling your bid and blocking you from bidding on my items. I understand that new members can be great customers, but I must talk to you first. Thanks a lot. I am sorry for all the rules, but it seems that 5% of difficult people spoil it for the 95% who are good. Thanks very much for looking! Again, please feel free to call 704-661-1326. Leave messages if no answer. Thanks for looking!
