Vehicle Detail

-Large Photos below description- Hello & thank you for viewing. Available is my 1970 Mercedes 220D "11/69 build date". As you can see from the photos this is an obvious departure from a typical used classic Mercedes. I believe the photos speak volumes, and yes its much more pleasing in person. It drives like a wonderful open car with great handling and poise, all the while returning great reliability and 32 MPG. This is the basic run down on the overall condition. Quick summary, the car has 139,000 original & well documented miles. One owner car up until a few years ago when purchased at the estate of original owner after passing. Rare car with its 4 speed, meaning this Mercedes is responsive, fun to drive, and great on those twisting coastal roads. Paint looks to be original and presents very well, with only a few minor scratches, no dents, and absolutely zero rust/see photos of floor boards. I drove a similar car all through college, and looked along time to find one this nice. Amazing after 44 years, the car actually appears to have minimal wear. Included is the original sales invoice from Beaverton Oregon, Original stamped metal data tag, vintage blue plates it was sold with new, original key, and all manuals. The car has a very large old style sliding rag top sunroof. This makes the car the ultimate sunshine/wine country touring mobile. Your passengers will feel like they are being carted in a English library while enjoying the great outdoors. I loaned this to my friend for a few weeks, and he found it a nicer vacation car than his 280SL. Recent work the car has seen: Suspension has seen large amount of recent work to include: -Full brake service front/back -New inner-outer tire rods at each side -New Bilstein shocks -Bearing repack -Fresh Tires "all 4" Motor work: -Motor runs very well/starts easily even when cold -New injectors -Glow Plugs -Valve adj. -Filters Interior: No expense spared in recreating the original carpet kit in the period correct and color correct loop pile material. Also had the usual sagging/springy Mercedes seats repaired for a firm feel. Do not over look unsupportive seats in these cars as they are expensive to fix and they all need fixing. Interior presents close to new. Note, there is a suede dash mat in place, there are 2 cracks in the dash. Caps can be bought new, however the dash mat is custom tailored to the car and looks factory. Body: Body has required almost zero work, as the paint has a great gloss, and minimal imperfections. Another important note, the car has had much the weather striping replaced. Dont make the mistake of buying an old Benz without fresh weather seals. Expensive & time consuming process. All 4 doors/seals were done, and the trunk. In summary, you can look but you wont find a nicer or more sorted classic 220D. Has all the right options, looks, and is turn key ready to go. Would be a great addition to anyones collection, and would actually make for a very fuel efficient daily driver if you are so disposed. -Feel free to contact me at 503-369-0459 if you have any concerns -Non refundable deposit due within 24 hours auction close in the amount of $750 -I will work with the buyer on shipping. and do not mind storing the car in my garage until the transportation needs have been sorted out. -Polished alloy wind deflector made for the car. Eliminates any wind noise & made in install in seconds. Trunk shows no signs of rust Original paint on floors still shows very well with zero signs of rust. Original sales invoice from Don Rasmussen Mercedes of Oregon
