Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a true barn find 1957 CHEVROLET BIG WINDOW SHORT WHEEL BASE STEP SIDE 3100 PICKUP TRUCK. This truck DOES NOT HAVE A TITLE AND WILL BE SOLD WITH A BILL OF SALE to the highest bidder in this NO RESERVE AUCTION. I had to fill in the title and mileage information as per requirement but the truck has no title and mileage is unknown. A few months ago my Son and I drove to Spring Tx. to look at a car that we saw is an ad for sale and ended up not buying the car. We stopped at a Shell station to get some diesel and we had the car trailer on the back of the truck and a guy struck up a conversation with us about what we were doing with a car trailer behind us. When we told the guy that we were about to drive back home with an empty trailer he told us about a friend of his that had an old '57 Chevy truck stuck out in an old building on his property and a phone call later my Son and I were on our way to look at this old Chevy. When we arrived at the trucks location we were greeted by a older gentleman and he led us back to a crusty old building where he had several old vehicles. The truck was under years of dust and materials piled on top of it and inside the bed. I hooked my winch line to the trucks chassis and drug it out into the light (the front wheels would not turn). The old Chevy looked pretty cool, it had a good stance, the floors were solid, the cab corners were solid and of course there was the fact that it was a BIG WINDOW SHORT WHEEL BASE STEP SIDE truck. There was some rust in some of the normal places but but not too bad. The Old Man told me that the truck belonged to his Grandson and that his Grandson had started to restore the truck back in the early '90's but had joined the Air Force and had been stationed overseas and lost interest in the truck. The obvious work/modifications his Grandson had done to the truck is he put a late model (late '80's -early '90's Impala??) GM front end with disc brakes under the truck, he installed a 500 cubic inch Cadillac motor (according to the numbers on the block) and a GM automatic transmission (both the motor and trans will probably have to be rebuilt). He also installed a new floor with a transmission tunnel built up so he could run bucket seats and a console. The truck is pretty complete and is A VERY GOOD CANDIDATE FOR A FULL RESTORATION. When my Son and I got the truck home we put a "new" set of used tires on it so we could roll it around, I broke the calipers on the front disc brakes loose so now the truck rolls freely, we power washed the whole truck and my Son sanded the surface rust off the floor and painted it with rust inhibiting black paint. Other than that the truck is exactly how we bought it. The truck looks really cool and has the right stuff to make a good builder. I had attended the Goodguys Hot Rod Show at the Texas Motor Speedway recently and saw a lot of '55-'57 Chevy trucks built to the hilt but it was only the Big Windows that really captured my attention, THIS IS THE TRUCK YOU WANT. Please check out my feedback, bid with confidence and bid to win the REALLY COOL 1957 CHEVY BIG WINDOW PICKUP TRUCK.
