Honda Dream 50R is a limited edition model released in 2004 to commemorate Honda’s early 1962 racing history. For $5,499, you got a 156lb lightweight with an engine built by Honda’s racing division, including race-spec cams, valve springs and pistons, and a six-speed gearbox. But before you get too excited, that 49cc four-stroke produces just seven bhp—at a heady 13,500 rpm. It’s not road legal, and even if it was, a trip to the corner store would probably be the limit. As a piece of rolling motorcycle sculpture, though, it’s just perfect. It’s probably one of the prettiest production motorcycles to ever roll off the line. The Honda Dream 50R features a four-stroke engine built by Honda’s racing division, capable of 7 horsepower at nearly 14,000 rpm. This incredible bike has a 6 speed gear box, lots of trick racing features, and no kickstart or push button. To fire this up, you’ve got to bump start it. 1) Lift choke lever if cold/leave alone if warm. 2) Take 2 steps while on it and pop clutch in 2nd gear, this turns over the motor and it fires. 3) It is now running! Engine: 49cc four-stroke engine produces 7 bhp at 13,500 rpm. HRC(r) racing parts include: camshaft, valve springs, low-friction cam chain, crankshaft and lightweight AC generator. Six-speed close-ratio transmission. Big-bore carburetor and special manifold for optimum power. Race-ready engine features oil drain bolt with hole for lockwire to comply with race regulations. Comes equipped with the Dream 50 engine assembled with camshafts, valve springs, piston, designed exclusively for the Dream 50 race kits, and low-friction cam chains, crankshaft, and light-weight AC generator which are newly designed for the Dream 50R. The carburetor and air funnels are designed exclusively for competition use, all of which contribute to developing 51.4kw (7ps) at 13500rpm. The transmission comes equipped with 6-speed close-ratio gears. Chassis/Suspension: Lightweight and strong steel frame. Weight-saving aluminum fenders front and rear. Aluminum oil catch tank. Showa(r) front and rear suspension are calibrated for the track to provide optimum handling and stability. Exhaust system features a one-piece expansion chamber and muffler. Aluminum front and rear fenders and a dedicated aluminum oil catch tank. Race use tachometer (full scale 18000 rpm) and tachometer stays are mounted directly to the frame, improving meter conspicuity. Equipped with a numberplate. The front and rear suspension is fitted with pre-load adjusters to ensure controllability. The front suspension now has no speed meter gear box inside. Instead it is equipped with side collar for weight reduction. Swing arm is fitted with chain guides which meet the regulations.
