Vehicle Detail

MAN I wish I was 16 again!! How cool would it be to own this car at that age or have a father/son toy?! Smokey and the Bandit car, perhaps? Too many projects so little time. MY LOSS YOUR GAIN! NO RESERVE!! I am told that the "Z" in the VIN indicates a true 400 car. See picture of the VIN below: 2w87Z91130213 You KNOW you have been looking. Some of the junks on eBay aren't worth towing home let alone putting your hard earned money into it! This is a rare 'Bird worthy of street duty at least!! Not to mention future restoration. Don't let this one slip away! This was a running driving car about a year ago or so. One of the dealers I sell for that restores cars, bought this car as a donor car for a GTO project. He needed the 400 and the 4 speed from it to complete. I couldn't stand that the car was sitting so I did the right thing and snagged it!! But....as it sat all winter in my shop...along with the rest of my projects, I decided it has to go. It's taking up space and I want it to go to a good home. Restore it or toss a motor in it and go cruising!! That was my plan so I hunted down a transmission for it. Found a nice T-10. Then I decided to go the easy route and toss a small block chevy in it. I know...sacreligious...but one of my first cars, a '78 Firebird, had a 400 small block chevy in it that I installed. To keep the 6.6 theme, I was planning to hunt down one. So I picked up a 621 Factory GM bellhousing to support the larger flywheel needed. These parts can be seen in the pics below with their part numbers. Obviously I wasn't going the factory spec restoration route. I Also scored a brand new Crane HI-6RL to install and replace the missing MSD 6A box. Pretty much the rest of the build had come to a screeching halt. I have another car, a Bronco, 4 bikes, a go-cart and plenty of household projects to complete. Understand..I DO NOT "NEED" TO SELL. I'm not starving. I just need to scale it down and create more work room/pick my battles. But NO RESERVE means exactly that...I'm not messing around. High bidder wins. Come get it!! It rolls super easy (I pushed it out for the pics) and will load up on your trailer or tow dolly, like I used. Again, this car was a running and driving vehicle with no known issues. Please inspect my excellent feedbacks and the 60 pics below with their descriptions. This is NOT a show car. This is NOT a rust free car. This is NOT a mint condition car. What it IS, is a quality specimen for what ever YOU decide to do with it. Look at how un-wavey the front nose is! As far as I can tell, it needs a motor (ready for a SBC or BBC with the 621 bell) from carb to pan, fan to flywheel/clutch. Radiator, steering pump, battery, headers and driveshaft. This is to get it back on the street to drive and enjoy. Brakes and wiring are intact. Naturally there are misc items that will come into play if you decide to go further with the car. As seen below, it has solid floors and trunk. Minimal rust spots mainly on the lower portions, all repairable. The car has full exhaust, slapper bars, frame ties, crossmember...even has the shifter linkage on the trans and Z-bar still in the car!!! The BF Goodrich tires are matching radial T/As and have excellent tread left. All ride on nice Weld Draglites that are clean but need a quick polishing. As you can see it's a custom paintjob, but it's glory days are long gone. Ghost flames into firey flames look killer. Definitely a 10-footer (great looking from 10 feet away). It's chipped and checked. Scratched and scuffed. I'd imagine it could be wetsanded and buffed for improvement. The shaker scoop has been integrated into the hood. The glass is nice. The T-tops look good and don't show any signs of leaking (it's outside in the rain now). The doors, hood and trunk open and close properly and even the doors don't hang and latch properly!! They are solid too with minimal rust under the edges. My most favorite tailights on all the firebirds! Think about how cool it's gonna be to pop the tops out and cruise! I'm jealous... I didn't even touch the interior. It is super clean. Front seats ar aftermarket replacements that look and feel 10x better than originals. Rear seats are in superb condition. Seat belts are all intact. Headliner looks great. Carpet looks to have been recently replaced. Even the door sill plates look awesome!! Shocking that the dash only has ONE crack in it!! Note the rear seating below looks awesome. Doorpanels look great but will need typcial lower portion rehab with some new clips to be perfect. Armrests are intact and supported properly. Above you can see the factory style T-Top bags are included. Below is a shot of the brand new HI-6 box ready to use. The car also comes with an MSD Blaster 3 tower coil which is bolted to the firewall still. The box is sitting on the 621 Bell which can be used with a slew of SBC and BBC flywheels. Here's a shot of the T-10 4speed trans. This item alone is easily $800. Plus it has a complete shifter linkage. This is a $1000 trans setup or more IF you can find one complete. The trans shifts thru all the gears properly and smoothly. Above you can see the trunklid edge. It's shot. It opens and closes properly but it's crusty. Typical midwest driver, but considering it's age, if the trunklid is the only casualty, I'll take it!! Note the Sony 10-disc CD Changer installed. The front is also a CD player but the face is missing. Rear 6x9s come with the car. Below you can see the solid floors and I point to the only obvious pinholes that I was able to find (the round hole needs to have a plug reinstalled). The rest is surface. Above you can see the solid hood and engine compartment. Also note the A/C box...a VERY ODD thing here...notice all the stickers and proper condenser box....note...there are NO ALUMINUM A/C LINES!!! Not even holes for em tho either!! It looks as if they were never even cutout for the lines in the first place!?! Super odd...maybe it was a factory to dealer completion that was never completed?? It has ALL the typical A/C components otherwise, even the A/C selection on the climate control panel. Below you can see the factory 6.6 engine tag. MSD Blaster3 coil and look hard, you will see the Z-bar is intact. Below you can see the rest of the front area is complete, solid and damage free. Even the battery tray is solid and these are usually rusted out and gone. Motor mounts shown stay with the car but ar currently setup for the 400 Pontiac, don't forget. VIN below: 2W87Z91130213 As stated the car is solid underneath aside some surface rust, I can't see any obvious holes or soft spots. Below pics, please inspect the obvious rust areas. Again, these are all repairable or avoided to get the car back on the road! First one is the driver's body corner. The hard to see one is a shot of the door edge. No chunks or holes of rust here, just some scale or none at all. Above you can see the driver's lower quarter has typical bubbles and edge flakes. Below is the underside of the rear bumper area. Front and rear anti-sway bars are intact. Rear 10 bolt is complete and ready to go. Pretty sure all the T/As came with posi...I'm just not sure of the ratio. Note the flowmaster full exhaust. Right rear quarter is bubbly but not showing the rust as much. With the scratches under the paint here, I'd assume there is some minor body putty in these areas from the prior paintjob. Below you can see the passenger doorjam corner is more solid than the driver's. I'm surprised these lower body sills aren't rusted out. Maybe they were replaced before? Below you can see the small bubbles on the front fender. Bumper covers are solid with no signs of major damages, holes or cracks. What you see in the 60 pics is what you get. Nothing more nothing less. No books. Only one set of keys that work in the ignition, both doors and trunk as they should. If you do not see it in the pics, it does NOT come with the car.
