It's THAT time of year!! Break out the toys!! You've been waiting...this one is NO RESERVE!! I have been trying to get my hands on a nice Miata for a long long time now. It's insane how popular these cars are. Understandable since they are super reliable. Super simple and super fun to drive! This version is a fantastic driver that seems to have been properly serviced and cared for. The exterior is an easy 7+ out of 10. Believe it or not, the car hasn't even been prfessionally detailed. Just a quick cleaning from yours truly. A bit of touchup paint, buff and wax and it's an 8+! The front nose looks great save for the typical pumper tag marks behind the license plate frame. No cracks, holes or damages. The body is free from any major dents and under hard inspection I see a handfull of dings. Being a white car, they are very hard to see. A quality dentbuster could make it near perfect if desired. Below you can see the nearly new Michelins on front. The rears are 70+% tread left Hancooks. All ride on nice damage/vibration free rims. The hood had a couple dings as well, again only noticable while catching the light at the right angle. Amazingly the top looks superb! No rips or tears. Minimal fading and it clearly folds back properly. It does have the typical lower stitching seperation at the bottom of the window part. I personally would just order the window kit and replace it to make it justlikenew2u!! Yes you can see thru the window, it's useable and visible with minimal cloud. Above you can see the car sports the usual midwest splash area rust spots. Typically these are rusted thru and unrepairable. This car has plenty of surface area left to use for repair. Below the rear bumper cover has seen better days. No damages, cracks or holes here either but plenty of chips. Easily touched up. Above you can see the worst rust spot of the 2. Again, plenty of area left to work with for repair. Otherwise these are the only 2 spots. Underneath the car is solid. No signs of accidents, major repairs or problem areas to be found anywhere else. The interior gets an easy 8+ out of 10. The only worn areas are purely cosmetic on the steering wheel, elbow area on the center armrest and parking brake handle. Seats look excellent. No rips or tears and minimal driver's bolster wear. Carpet looks great. Factory floormats look good and are in useable condition. I hate smoke and I don't see or smell any signs of a former smoker. Above and below: shots of the gauge cluster to show there are no dummy lights illuminated during run and all come on during startup. Oil pressure is strong at idle and increases as it should under higher RPM. All the climate controls works as they should, super hot heat and ICE COLD AIR CONDITIONING. Note the factory rear top cover is included, finnicky as it is to install! No rust on the trunklid. Clean trunk area includes the aired up spare setup ready for your roadtrip home. Finally...the BEST part of any properly serviced vehicle...the clean engine compartment!! Super clean in fact...so clean you can pick a spot and eat off it!! When I got the car it had the usual surging idle issue. I pulled the throttle body off and cleaned the IAC valve and all is well. I also bypassed the heat lines to the throttle body to pick up a bit of power. The engine fires right up and runs perfectly with no unusual noises. You can see it has recent spark plug wires added. The spark plugs are fresh as well. Properly gapped and reinstalled by yours truly. The oil is SPOTLESS!! Seriously...clean as the day it came from the bottle which leads me to believe it has been synthetic all it's life. Coolant is clean. The ONLY thing I wasn't able to check was the transmision fluid, seeing as it's a "sealed" system. That's the only recommendation I have is to get the fluid and filter properly changed for longevity. Otherwise the transmission operates as it should in all gears at any speeds. Battery is strong. I've personally logged over 100 miles on this car to ensure it's reliability. The car drives straight down any roads. The suspension is tight and noise free. No popping or rattling. The brakes are very recent showing at least 70% thickness in the pads with no warp/pulsing. Very strong brakes. All lighting works as it should. No overheating. Under the car I don't see any major oil or coolant leaks altho I did notice some light oil sweating around the front lower crank seal area which is probably from the thinner oil use. I'd recommend Lucas oil stabilizer next change to cure that issue. There are no manuals included and only one factory key. I had intended to take this car on a roadtrip but the trunk space is too small for luggage (read: my roadtrip partner would NEVER have fit all her shoes and clothes in the trunk!).
