Offered for sale is a 1985 Toyota Corolla GT-S Coupe AE86. There is no reserve on this listing. Finished in factory original red paint over a red and black interior, this car appears to be 100% stock. I bought the car off of Craigslist in September to temporarily replace my daily driver as it was being repaired. I needed a fairly cheap, reliable car and could not pass up the opportunity of finding one of these here in Iowa, of all places. The car has been utterly reliable for me and has not once failed to start. There are no visible fluid leaks. However, it does have a slight engine knock around 3000 rpm, and you will be able to hear it in the videos to which I have provided links below. The car does not overheat, burn oil, or burn coolant. I have taken it on multiple 40-mile trips in 85°F weather with no signs of overheating. The engine idles smoothly at 1000 rpm, the clutch is strong and does not slip, the shifter works effortlessly, and there are no clunks or unusual noises from the suspension. The clutch pedal is a little soft though. I do not think this car has the optional limited-slip differential; I have included a picture of the model number from the engine bay. The car has not been smog tested. The registration was renewed in September just a few days after I first registered it. This was because there was an error the first time (September 13) with the name and address. I do not have any information regarding the odometer issue. After all, I bought the car off of Craigslist. That’s why I am putting as much information as possible in this listing. The car does have some rust, especially around the wheel wells. However, for a 28-year-old car that has been an Iowa car from new, the amount of corrosion present is decently low. The underside of the car is in much better condition than the body panels. All of the glass is in good shape and do not have any cracks. The tires have most of their tread remaining. All of the exterior lights work. The interior is in good shape, but the rear seat headrests are ripped. The seats and carpets are in great shape, with no rips or stains. All of the seat adjustments work, including the squeeze pump-operated lumbar on the driver’s side. The headliner is in decent shape. The cruise control stalk is still wired and lights up when turned on, but the physical switch is broken. There is a leak in the air conditioning system and does not work. I do not have any maintenance records from the previous owner. The oil was changed recently at 131,000 miles. The buyer is responsible for arranging shipping, but I would be willing to pay 25% of the shipping cost, up to a maximum of $150, should the car sell for over $2,800.
