Vehicle Detail

Very nice and original Triumph Trophy Trail. Model TR5t. Somewhat rare and hard to find as this model was only made two years, '73 and '74. They usually have been rode hard and show it when they do come around. I'm selling off the last few bikes in my collection, and this is one of them. This bike is nearly 100% original, with the exception of tires, new fuel petcocks, new battery and a repaint of the side covers. Aluminum tank is in great condition with exception of a few light scuffs here and there. Original yellow tank paint is fading. Seat is original and in good condition and still pliable, etc. I purchased the bike from the original owner who purchased it new. It has spent most of its life garaged and well taken care of. Another reason for the remarkable condition is it has spent its life in the dry state of Colorado. Therefore all of the chrome is mint and no rust anywhere on the bike. These models have so much chrome that it is hard to take pics as it seems to wash out some of the pictures. No leaks or seepage anywhere. Original exhaust and muffler are fine, usually missing or after market. All cables, etc are in great shape. After sitting for 4 years, it started on the 3rd kick and ran clean, not a puff. ( I replenished the gas, changed the gearbox and engine oil fluids, installed a new battery, all before starting). Lighting, horn, tach, etc work as they should. The turn signals aren't working. I suspect the flasher unit or the handlebar switch contacts need cleaning. Should be an easy fix, as these bikes are so simple. I may check into it this weekend, no promises as my house is on the market and my time is very limited. A short list of note; tires/tubes are nearly 10 years old and the rear tire has tiny "weather" cracks, tail light lens has crazing and has a small crack that has been repaired with superglue, still functional, just not perfect. A bit of the wiring loom cover near the handlebars has dried and split. The enclosed wiring is fine and unaffected. Tip on the headlight on/off toggle has broken off, still functional. A repaired 2" crack on the front fender near the center brace, seen in the close up pic. A small ding on the exhaust header pipe, can be seen in the pics. A few boot scuffs on the primary case near the brake pedal. A section of the wiring loom under the seat was cut. I used solder-less connections and re-taped the loom. I suspect the previous owner was attempting to trouble shoot the brake light not working and haphazardly severed the wires. I discovered his"repair" while fixing the brakelight issue. Sadly it was just a connection behind the tailight mount that had come loose. A 5 minute fix! Included is the "stainless steel" luggage rack which was a dealer option. Also included, owners manual, shop manual, and replacement parts book. All nice to have if you do your own work, etc. The bike will be for sale locally unless a bid is placed. I've tried to give as much information, etc. Any questions, more pics, please ask. Also, as many collectors know, a complete and nice unrestored original is always a better investment than a nicely restored machine. Such a nice bike and only 41 years old !
