Vehicle Detail

1998 Honda Civic CoupeDX TrimCypress Green Peral150'000 miles 5 speed manual - No grinds at all or pop outsStock D16Y7 engine (Not a Vtec model) Has aftermarket intake (looks like a macaroni elbow with a filter on it) Has aftermarket exhaust manifold. The exhaust setup on this car is very similar to the EX model, NOT the original DX / CX / LX / HX models where the catalytic converter is part of the exhaust manifold. The manifold is just tubes connected to the catalytic converter under the car. Previous owner had a universal catalytic converter welded into the midpipe / resonator pipe. Aftermarket large diameter muffler was removed and replaced with OE style, OEM diameter exhaust tip.New strut \ shock assemblies all around (stock replacements by Monroe) (Roughly 5-600 miles on them)New front inner and outer tie rod ends (Less than 150 miles)New upper and lower front ball joints (Less than 150 miles)Just aligned by Sears, drives very smooth on the highway (Less than 150 miles)Car is completely STOCK except for the intake and header. There were aftermarket speakers as well as an aftermarket stereo installed in the car. They have been removed and the original speakers have been put back. The fronts did not work, which was why they were all replaced. Pioneer head unit that came in the car, will be left in the car. Works fine, no remote, cut adapter harness will be left, original factory plug was not cut.Sits on stock 14" steel rims, tires in good condition. They are pretty mismatched and the size is incorrect when looking inside the door frame. They are 195/70/14 instead of the factory 185/65/14. Not sure why they were setup this way, but tires have been fine since it was purchased.Inspection still good in NJBad:* Check engine light is on for what seems like a failing catalytic converter. If you're replacing the exhaust system back to a high flow performance system, this should resolve that issue.--> Code pulled at Advanced Auto and Autozone was a P0420 "Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)"###Important!!! This DX does NOT have the oem catalytic converter setup (where the cat is IN the manifold on the front of the engine). It has an aftermarket exhaust manifold / header, that routes under the oil pan where the cat follows, then midpipe, etc. When sourcing parts, you will need to look for a cat for the EX / Si models, NOT for a CX\DX\LX\HX. This seems actually be cheaper and easier, as the oem manifolds with cat are VERY expensive and the manifolds tend to crack A LOT! However, to revert back to stock, I have a midpipe with resonator, you will need to source an OEM manifold / cat and also the front pipe that connects immediately after it, to the mid pip.###* Seats are stained (has always just had seat covers on it) and the steering wheel feels like it needs a cover or to replace the outer grip part (It's worn). The sun visors have some stains and the passenger side is ripped. The rear seat has a burn hole in it. I can only assume the car was smoked in by the burn mark, but it does not smell like anyone has been smoking in it.* Dent on rear passenger side quarter panel, door is fine, nothing else affected. Driver was pulling out of a spot and not looking, bumped the side of the car. Very low speed, damage was left unrepaired.* Driver window fell off track, needs to be lubed I believe. It's very hard to get down currently while it's off the track. Broke the first roll up handle, has been replaced with Honda part. * Rear drum on the passenger side is starting to make a grinding sound, but does not appear to be seized. They have not been changed since we have owned the car. --------------------Car originally drove very rough as far as comfort of the ride. The struts were leaking, the car bounced a lot in the front end and shook around 65mph on the highway. Struts/Springs fixed the car bouncing around the highway, and the ball joints / tie rod ends / alignment took car of the shaking and crooked steering wheel and pull. Car drives very well since the suspension parts were fixed. Has been driven close to 450 miles a week on the Garden State Parkway mostly, usually around 70-75mph It will do 80mph with no pull / shaking / vibrating. Car is very mechanically sound. Even with the Check Engine light, the car runs very strong and still gets 31-34 mpg on the highway. Oil changed with SAE 5w30 ever 3'000-3'500 miles. Plugs and wires done roughly 1'000 miles ago. Anything I forgot, please ask. I will provide every bit of information I have on this vehicle! ** Car is also for sale locally, it may sell before the auction ends ** ! UPDATED 3/6 ! (below)New Photos! Also, car has a security system already installed. I believe it was only an alarm system as the clutch switch remains intact (generally disabled for manual cars with remote start) and the windows / locks are manual. So I believe this was ONLY for an alarm. There is a horn under the hood and a switch need the hood release latch. The fob that we got with the keys looks like a Viper fob. That's all I know about it, it currently doesn't work. I don't know what it will take to fix it. Interior I found tow hooks that must have come with the car, they will be included with the car. Also, the old blue lug nuts were starting to look very worn and I was slowly changing them out for new plain black ones. They come with a lock, but I was not using them, all of the remaining lug nuts in the package are going with the car, lock included, as well as the old lock for the blue set. The car does not come with a tachometer from the factory so previous owner installed a blue LED digital tachometer. It appears to work and is pretty bright.
