Vehicle Detail
Rare 1956 Chevrolet Big Window SWB Pickup. This vehicle was Appraised on February 7, 2008 by Martin Hibsch (CARSAPPRAISED.COM) of Carlsbad, California at a Fair Market Value of $51,000.00. The analysis of that appraisal is as follows: Engine/Transmission - The engine is a 2006 Chevrolet 4.8 liter LS1 V-8, that has been custom installed. The workmanship is nothing less than professional in design and detail. The engine retains the stock 2006 accessories, with power steering, alternator and air conditioning compressor. The exhaust system is custom made using JBA tubes, modified to fit the truck chassis. Cooling is done via a mechanical fan mounted behind a stock looking radiator which has been powder coated. The transmission is a Chevrolet 2006 4L80 automatic overdrive. Shifting is controlled by a Lokar floor shifter, which is in the stock location of 1956 Chevy trucks with four speed transmissions. Suspension/Differential - This vehicle has been built as a "frame off", meaning the entire frame has been striped of the old paint and road grease and epoxy coated for not only appearance, but years of service. The steering is via a Heidts Mustang II power rack. The rear end is a re-built stock 1956 Chevrolet. Front brakes are custom disc while the rear are drum. Paint/Body/Trim - The truck is painted in a Chrysler 2004/05 PT Cruiser Blue, with a basecoat and a clear coat (there are some minor/small chips and the owner rates the paint as an 8). All the chrome trim has been replaced and shines better than when new. All the glass and window rubbers have been replaced. The side glass has been custom fitted with a one-piece glass, replacing the stock vent windows for that modern and custom look. The truck is the Big Rear Window model, the most sought after truck of the late 195501957 model years. Interior - The stock seat has been custom upholstered with black leather that features the Chevrolet Bow Tie logo on the upright part of the seat. The door panels have all been repainted to match the outside color and new window/door handles. The dash is fully painted in the same color and features the stock chrome instrument cluster with new gauges. The headliner is new with new rubber. A retro AM/FM stereo has been installed with new kick panel w/speakers and new antenna.
