I drive every one of my sale vehicles and write a thorough description including the good and bad of the vehicle. I try to accurately describe any mechanical issues to the best of my ability, but I am not a mechanic. Please understand that these are used vehicles. They are not perfect. Up for auction with NO RESERVE is an 88 Isuzu Trooper 2-door with the 4 cylinder engine, 5-speed manual transmission, and four wheel drive. This is a good looking, low mileage truck, but it comes with a catch: you will need to bring a trailer. I bought it but almost immediately a brake line burst so I had to park it. I don’t have an easy way to transport a vehicle with no brakes, so my loss is your gain. The offending brake line is right by the master cylinder, and looks like it would be easy enough to repair, but I have no desire to freeze my fingers to do it. I am a big fan of Isuzu Rodeos and Troopers. They have always been a good combination of rugged and simple. A Trooper like this would make an excellent winter beater, camp truck, or an everyday driver. The big 2.6L 4 cylinder engine isn’t the sportiest, but they are known to last forever and are well matched to the manual transmission. The four wheel drive is a true truck-style system with a 2-speed transfer case, solid rear axle, and lots of underbody clearance. The interior of this Isuzu is in pretty good shape. These trucks are pretty Spartan from the factory. The seats are clean and comfortable with no holes. The rear seat folds up flat and gives a huge cargo area for a mid-size SUV. The dash and door panels are in good shape. The red paint with accents stripes on this truck look good. The chrome wheels contrast nicely and have a set of radials with decent tread. There are some dings and blemishes, but overall it looks good for the age. Because of the lack of stopping ability, I have not been able to take this truck on a test drive. I fired it up and the engine sounds good. The clutch doesn’t slip and the transmission seems to go into all the gears. The brakes will need immediate repair, obviously. The truck is drive-able enough to load it onto a trailer with some care and skill. It cannot be driven on the road AS-IS. I got this truck because I thought I would make a good winter vehicle for me.
