Vehicle Detail
Here is an untouched 1979 Siver Anniversary Trans Am. I bought it a few years ago and it doesn't seem like I am going to get to use it much. It is a running, driving car that I have driven several times when the weather cooperates. It has the rare, numbers matching W72 T/A 6.6 engine and the numbers matching 4 speed transmission and rear end. As you know, these cars came from the factory fully loaded so there is no reason to explain in great detail about the options that came with these cars...they were loaded. This car appears to have never been painted or involved in any accidents. The floor pans and trunk are in amazing condition, even the factory pinch welds are intact. It has the original carburetor, all of the air conditioning components are in place. I have just spent a little over $600 on brand new BFG Radial T/A's, 215/70/15, and over $900 on a new exhaust system. It could use a paint job, that depends on you. the paint is faded and flaking in places. I don't really care because originality is more important to me than a show car looking vehicle. Having said that, if you wanted to paint it and make a show car out of it, at least you know whats underneath, which is nothing. Please note that all of the factory stickers are still in place on the trunk lid and the door jamb. The original flash chromed valve covers are still there, the shaker hood scoop has not even been cut. I also have an original, partial buildsheet. It has a brand new clutch, the oil has just been changed and it has new plugs. It also has a brand new battery and and a brand new starter. In my opinion, if you are buying a classic car you want the following things, all of which this Trans Am has; -Original paint-Numbers matching everything-Perfect dash-Low production numbers-Original and untouched-Fully loaded-No accidents-No or very little rust issues-Running and driving It will need; -The correct TA/TA radio, it has an aftermarket cassette deck in it at the moment-The power antennae does not work-The T-roof bags are gone-Paint if you so desire-The drivers side plastic wheel flare needs to be replaced, parking lot damage-Front seat skins passable but if you are looking for perfection you would want to replace them. In summary, what you have here is a very original 10th Annversary Trans Am with the highly desireable W72 T/A 6.6 drivetrain. No one has restored it yet so there are no surprises. Drive it as it is or restore to your liking. They are only original once. I have tried to describe this vehicle as accurately as possible. If there is anything that you would like to know about it just ask. I will answer quickly. Car is located in WA State, 98295.
