There was a top-end rebuild on the engine less than 500 miles ago! This job included the installation of new lifters, rods, and a slightly oversized camshaft. Other features include an Edelbrock 4-barrel, 600cfm carburetor and Headman headers. As with almost all CJ's this age, the driver & passenger floorboards were starting to rust when I bought it. I have gone through the process of treating any hint of rust. It was a three stage treatment with POR-15 products. After the rust was removed by wire brush, I applied a metal treatment (chemically removes all remaining rust), a POR-15 hardner, & a black POR-15 top coat. Again, this was only the front floorboards. The rest of bed was original paint with no flaking rust. The undercarriage, bed, and floorboards were then rolled with Herculiner for protection and cleaning ease. The original metal body is very solid. It is very hard to find an early model CJ in this condition. To the best of my knowledge, most major components of Jeep (engine, transmission, transfer cases and axles) are also all original. There is a small amount of cracking paint in various areas. This is where one layer of paint was applied over another layer. There is no fiberglass on vehicle. Any questions are encouraged to be asked prior to end of auction. On Jan-13-14 at 19:01:25 PST, seller added the following information: Dear hglycans071506, Hi...I have several questions about your jeep. Do you have the backseat? In some picture it appears there may be some dents on the body and fenders......is that just glare or are there some dents present? Do you have the antenna? There appears to be a key on the drivers side near the hood......what is the purpose of this....is it for tuning the engine? Does the heater work? I know you rebuilt the top end of the engine....was there good compression on all cylinders? Has the radiator been reconditioned? If we wanted to come and test drive is that possible......is it tagged to be driven on public highway? If you prefer to discuss all of this via phone you can call me on my cell phone....828-779-1203. Thanks...Terry. - 31str.rod Dear 31str.rod, Sure, thanks for your interest. There is no backseat or antenna (no radio). There are a number of small dents around the metal body (>40 yrs. old). None are very large and really only noticeable unless at certain angles. Not sure about the key thing. Heater works fine. It has good compression and this is why it was not fully rebuilt (Not sure of ratio). The radiator was good at time of engine work (a compression test was performed on it). You could certainly come test drive if you like. I have been driving it on 1974 antique tags. Since it is over 35 yrs. old in NC, it is not required to get a safety/emissions inspection. Hope these answers were informative. Respond if you have more or want to drive it! - hglycans071506
