Vehicle Detail
1973 Triumph TR6 VIN: CF676U manual transmissionVery nice Triumph TR6 roadster. New paint, new Michelin 185/15 redline tires, new brakes, new top, new carpets, engine rebuilt and tuned, shifts great. It's just a great looking and driving vintage car, with a wonderful throaty sound from it's 2.5 liter 6 cylinder engine. Stacks of receipts documenting it's care and restoration come with the car, along with original tools, jack, photographs, and owners manuals. Known on the TR6 register as the 676th built for 1973, and is the last of the chrome bumper cars. Pertronix optical ignition under the distributor cap is the only modification from stock, which is a great upgrade. On Dec-01-13 at 09:28:06 PST, seller added the following information: Okay. Sorry about the light details above, I wanted to get the car listed last night, so here is more information for you, plus loads of other pictures. Actual mileage on the odometer is 51,074- I'm not sure if that is correct or not, but the speedomter works and the car has been pretty comprehensively rebuilt, so I'm not sure the mileage is a concern anyway. The receipts on the car document every kind of cosmetic and mechanical need a car could have. I have receipts from various shops beginning in 1983, when the car was about ten years old. I have photographs of the car being stripped to bare metal and repainted in 1993, and the car was painted again less than a year ago. I can find no rust on the car. I can't tell you that there is not some nook or cranny that has some kind of rust brewing, but I highly doubt it. The pans on the inside of the car under the carpets are clean and free of any scale, and the underside of the car including the frame is the same. It could use a good cleaning under there, but it's just road grime. The only scale I can see on it is the exhaust system, which is pictured, and does not affect the way it runs or drives. I took some photos of the top up, and you can also see that I installed the "Union Jack" flag decals. I also have new "TR6" decals for the wheel centers, in a box full of spare parts and all the maintenance and restoration documents. I drove it a good bit today to get it out in the sun and get all the fluids up to temperature. Oil pressure never falls below 50 lbs, and shows 70lbs or so when running down the road. Cold idle it pegs all the way over to the right. Temperature shows normal, volts show 14+ at idle, fuel gauge reads normally. The headlight switch is flaky, and right now the headlights do not come on, but they were working fine a little while ago. I think it's the switch, or I pulled a wire loose by accident under the dash. I'll check it out, but I don't think it's anything serious. Car is fun to drive, has a great sound to it. It is not equipped with overdrive (some are) but it runs great on the highway and is not buzzy in top (4th) gear. Radio has been "upgraded" to a CD player with speakers sitting in the floor behind the seats. There is a more period radio included in the box of spares, but I'm not sure it is the original one. I showed a picture of the wiring under the dash- I think the radio was connected to an available power wire, everything else looks fine and unmolested. According to the previous registration receipts, car was in Orange Park, FL until the mid-80's, and then bought and used by the next two previous owners in Virginia. It seems to have been loved and taken care of, and you could take it to a British car show immediately and have a ton of fun with it. The top on the car will now stay up due to the cold weather. Windows are a little sticky but go up and down okay. On Dec-01-13 at 18:42:18 PST, seller added the following information: Hello again. I had some questions about some of the data plate information. I do not see a plate on the door jamb, but there are two holes there where it used to be riveted- it was probably removed during the restoration in the '90's I referred to above. The VIN tag (CF676U) is on the drivers side A pillar, also two other tags under the hood are present. I took photos and uploaded them. The smaller tags are hard to read, but the top one says "T 00695 CF" and the bottom one says "00129 CD". I hope this is helpful. (You can order a Heritage Certificate and have a new plate made for the door jamb if you want- I had to do that on an E-Type that had the exact same thing happen.) Hope all this is helpful, and thanks again for the questions.
