Vehicle Detail
My wife and I purchased this car as a wedding present to ourselves a few months ago only to realize that we need this car like a hole in the head. So its fate is short lived at our house. The previous owner and son restored this car. What I will tell you is that they spent a lot of money as this car, it’s nice but.. They could have done a better job with fitting and body work. I am a perfectionist and this is not there. We knew that when we bought it but we thought we would strip it and paint it again and fit it the way it deserves. If you buy it realize it can be driven like it is but it’s not perfect. From this point on in the description is the previous owners claim to me when I bought it. These are not my words and I cannot verify the claim that it is truly an SS as there was no build sheet. If you read any forum or website about an SS as I did, no one can be sure. Previous Owners write up: Car is a Chevelle SS, not a clone. Engine, Vin, trans and rear end numbers all match. Dad has the original heads and intake manifold. Car was a complete frame off restoration and I believe I worked on it from 2002 thru 2005. Everything that was restorable or reusable was re-used but that was very little. Most everything is new. He has a picture record of restoration and has all receipts from ordering parts in his possession. BODY: body was media blasted down to bare metal and body work completed. All sheet metal is original except both rear quarters which are aftermarket. Front right fender was replaced with an OEM fender. Both bumpers are new along with most of the window trim and moldings. Grill and all the lens covers and light covers are new as well. Car was rewired with new harness and everything like heater core, squirrel cage, windshield wiper motor etc…was replaced. INTERIOR: all new from year one. Dash cover, sill plates, carpet, seat covers front and rear, door backs, door panels and hardware, headliner, package tray, speakers, radio/cd, kick panels, instrument knobs, front and rear windshield, carped underlay and sound-deadener, seatbelts, etc… FRAME: completely disassembled and sandblasted. Epoxy sealed, primed and coated then reassembled. Body to frame bushings are poly along with all suspension bushings. All suspension parts are brand new except upper/lower control arms (A-arms) and rear control arms, which are the correct heavy duty boxed type for the SS. Some parts such as steering stabilizer are upgraded Hotchkiss heavy duty performance parts. Car has new springs front and rear along with performance gas shocks. New stainless fuel lines were run and tank was cleaned and sealed and refurbished (new sending unit added). Rear end was disassembled and has new races/bearings/seals along with 3:90:1 ring/pinion/spider gears and brand new posi-traction unit added. Rear brakes and front brakes completely rebuilt with all new pads/hardware and new Drums/rotors (front rotors also have new races/bearings/seals. Front calipers were honed and rebuilt and rear master cylinders were replaced. Crager rims and tires were brand new. ENGINE/TRANS: Trans is the close ratio, M-22 Muncie “rock crusher”. It was gone thru and all seals replaced as well as new speedo gear added. Hurst 4 speed shifter was disassembled and refurbished with new bushings, greased and reassembled. Flywheel was resurfaced and balanced along with heavy duty clutch, pressure plate and hydraulic throw-out bearing added. Front and rear driveshaft bearings also replaced. Everything is brand new except the original block, crank, connecting rods. It was bored .030 over and has forged pistons. Compression is about 10.5:1 Edelbrock aluminum performer RPM heads and intake were added along with an edelbrock 700 carb. Cam if I remember correctly is a Comp and I believe the 292. rings are moly and all gaskets, seals, bearings are new. Rockers are I believe roller and they are aluminum. Water pump is high flow and starter is made for high compression motors. Bottom end has oil diverter and crank seal. Alternator is new style high output, and power steering reservoir and radiator (4 core) are both new. Engine was broke in on a dyno and made a few pulls before being installed. I cant remember HP and Torq specs but I believe it was 485 HP and about 560 ft lbs torq. Dad had a video of the dyno runs. As stated before just about everything is brand new. There is much more, but I can’t write a book. All seals on body are new as well as rear seat/trunk divider and the glove box as well as rubber bumpers are new. Just way too much to list. I completely re-built that car and the parts that were re-used were media cleaned and re finished, even the parts you can’t see like the windshield wiper inside arms or the rear inside backing plates. Just about every bolt, screw and nut are new and most are stainless. End of previous owners write up. Owner did tell me that it thought it to have only about 1000 miles on the motor. I cannot verify the mileage as the speedometer says 843. I'm certain that is at least 100843. Any other questions write or call me at 419-392-4232 Mike On Nov-11-13 at 11:28:46 PST, seller added the following information: *** Additional Pictures added... Additional Comment: A potential E-bay purchaser physically reviewed the car and confirmed the number on the motor matched the number on the serial plate. Confirmed that it does have F-41 items on rear except sway bar. Could not read the serial number on the rear end due to the clamp of the traction bars. Claims the instrument facia cover under the dash looks like it was replaced with one out of a Monte Carlo and painted black. I looked this up and cannot confirm but he seemed to know his 70 Chevelles. The right replacement one is $385.00.
