This auction features a 1959 Edsel Ranger 2 door hardtop. I found this in a garage not far from my home a few years ago and started restoring it. I have a shop manual, master parts list manual, and an owners manual. The mechanicals are done except the carburetor which has decided it now needs rebuilt. Thanks ethanol gas. It does run, but doesn't want to idle properly, a cleaned and rebuilt carb will fix this. According to what we have found, people talked to, and what we observed when I bought this, it was raced as a weekend racer at the local drag strip back in the sixties. The car number is still above the rear driver side window. This car is unusual for 1959 in that it has the bigger 361 V-8. Most of the cars from that year only had a 292 V-6. I just don't have time to continue working on it and I haven't had time to drive it hardly at all this year. I bought a business and that consumes most of my time now. The following information from the door jab data plate will assist in determining a lot about this car: Serial Number W9UG733756 Body 63F Color EE Trim 25 Date 16D Trans 3 Axle 5 This is what has been done to the car:complete brake system. lines, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, and padsall belts and hosesplugs, wires, cap, rotornew tiresnew gas tankradiator was replaced with an NOS radiatorthe carpet in the trunk was replaced to like original but not factorythe interior carpet was torn and tattered, it was replaced with like original.New battery with a disconnect. This is what still needs done to the car:there is rust around all doors some are holes, others are surfacethere is rust around the trunk lid and windows. this is all surface.the passenger side rocker is gone. I have the new replacement purchased from Macs Antique Auto.both rear shock towers are cracked through the trunk floor and need fixed. The shocks are not through yet and this is the only floor pan damage anywhere on the carThe drivers side rear fender needs work. it is rotted at the bottom and the last time the previous owner had it to the track, he hit the wall and damaged the fender from the window back.rear bumper needs replaced from the hit damage. I have the replacement.chrome need redone. As you can see, this car only mainly needs body work. The interior floor pans are solid, not even any surface rust. The interior is still original except the carpet, which as I said, was replaced with like original. The only damage to the interior is the drivers side door pull. Note this in the pictures. The radio and clock both work. You need to wait for the radio tubes to warm up, then it sounds great. I have the clock disconnected because it kept draining the battery. I have about $5,000 invested in this car. The remaining work including the chrome work, will probably run around $6,000 provided you do some of the work yourself. I was told by the International Edsel Club that this car, if properly restored will be worth between $12,000 and $15,000. This car is for sale in various other publications and may end at any time.
