Vehicle Detail

Single cylinder with plenty of torque to pull the side car. Cruises nicely with the sidecar at 60 mph and cruises nicely without the sidecar at 70 mph. Will go faster of course but those are the speeds I find most comfortable and doesn't make the bike work too hard. I am the second owner of the bike and bought it ten years ago in Casper Wyoming. I took the bus out and rode it back (650 miles) and ran it at 75 when on the Interstate but of course rode mostly on the secondary roads for a beautiful scenic ride home. Am selling as I am approaching 80 years old and don't ride it much anymore. Hate to admit it but I bought a little scooter and that will be my toy now. NO, not one of those......it's a little two wheeled Honda; just right for running to the hardware store. The sidecar is (I believe) a Sputnik made in Russia and probably from the sixties. Have never seen another like it and neither have any of my friends. I found it in New Jersey and had it restored. It is all steel and in very good condition and has good suspension. It was connected to the bike by a side car expert installer. It's important to have a side car installed by a professional as it must sit in the correct position beside the bike and it has a stabilizer bar connected to the front wheel as you can see in the photo. Without this a bikes front wheel will shimmy at slow speeds when pulling a side car. And the correct toe-in is important. It also has electric lean which allows the rig to corner easily at speed. The seat lifts out to store items in the rear of the car. It is simple to detach the sidecar from the bike which I do from time to time. The colors on the bike and the sidecar match but I notice look different in some of the photos; and I guess this is because of the sunshine. The bike has 8k miles and has always been serviced by the local mc shop. The bike does not use oil and always starts easily. In the winter months I pull the battery and when I re-install it in the spring it starts right up. It has a vacuum gas petcock so there is no need to shut off the gas when you park it, which you must do with many other bikes. It has cruise control and the tires are good. It has belt drive which is what the Harleys have gone to in recent years. I have a clear title and it has always been stored inside and has not been ridden in the rain. Suzuki has been making this same bike since 1986 and the new ones today are the same as the early ones, as they found no reason to change it. Today it's called an S-40. Air cooled, one cylinder, one carb makes a bike easy to service and makes for great gas mileage. Comes with the original 77 page owners manual. One time I entered it in a bike show and it won first place in it's class. Everything works as it should and it needs nothing. It is ready and reliable if you want to come here and ride it home to wherever you live.On Oct-09-13 at 15:57:12 PDT, seller added the following information: Note: I just found out that I can also accept Visa, MasterCard, or Discover as payment for this motorcycle and sidecar. Our daughter has a business and I was telling her about selling my motorcycle and she offered the use of her credit card machine. So, if you choose to pay using your credit card, we can finalize the transaction that way by telephone.
