One of three that exist in the world. Raced by Christian Fittipaldi in the 1992 Formula 1 Grand Prix season. Featuring the Mauro Foghieri-designed L3512 Lamborghini/Chrysler engine with its unique 80-degree V12 unit putting out a certified 700bhp and turning over at a maximum 13,800rpm. Weighing in at only 1135 pounds. Race history includes races at Monte Carlo, Silverstone, Monza ect. Completely mechanically refurbished and drivable, this rare piece of Lamborghini history is ready to be the centerpiece of any collection, or for participation in historic racing events. Also driven by Valentino Balboni in demonstration events at Road Atlanta and Sebring. The history behind the 1992 Minardi season is as follows (Per the Lamborghini Registry). The season's opener in South Africa (Kyalami circuit) was not a happy start for Minardi despite Morbidelli (Italy) qualifying in 19th position, and Fittipaldi (Brazil) in 20th position. After 43 of the 72 laps Fittipaldi retired... with an electrical problem and Morbidelli retired 12 laps later with an engine problem. In Mexico both cars spun during the race. Fittipaldi on lap 2, Morbidelli on lap 29. In Brazil the Minardi team could finally smile. Although Fittipaldi retired again, this time with gearbox trouble, Morbidelli finished the race in 7th position, after qualifying in 23rd position. In Spain Fittipaldi finally brought the Minardi home in 11th position but unfortunately Morbidelli suffered from a handling problem on lap 26. In San Marino, both cars suffered from the same problem again, this time a transmission problem. Fittipaldi retired on lap 8, Morbidelli 16 laps later. After qualifying in 17th position, Fittipaldi finished in 8th position in Monaco. Morbidelli retired on the opening lap with a battery problem. In Canada both cars finished. Morbidelli managed 11th position, and Fittipaldi 13th position, despite the fact that the oil in his gearbox caught fire on his last lap. In France Fittipaldi had an accident during qualifying. Fittipaldi broke a vertebra in his neck. Despite all the commotion, Morbidelli brought his car home in 8th position. For the race in Britain, Zanardi (Italy) replaced Fittipaldi. However, he did not have a happy start in his new car, as he did not manage to qualify for the race. Morbidelli qualified in 25th position and retired in 17th position because of a loss of oil pressure. In Germany Zanardi made it to the grid in 25th position. However, he retired on the opening lap of the race with a broken clutch. Morbidelli finished in 12th position. At the Hungaroring both cars failed to qualify. Seven weeks after his accident in France, Fittipaldi was back in the cockpit of the second Minardi for the Belgian GP. He failed to qualify. Morbidelli lead three Lamborghini powered cars home to the finish. He finished in 16th , Katayama was 17th in the Lamborghini-Larrousse, and Katayama's teammate Gachot finished 18th. With Fittipaldi failing to qualify again in Italy, Giancarlo Minardi was having serious doubts about Fittipaldi's future with his team. Morbidelli qualified in 12th position but retired after 12 laps with an engine problem. In Portugal Fittipaldi showed his true potential and finished in 12th position, two spots ahead of Morbidelli in 14th position. In Japan, Fittipaldi managed the impossible. After qualifying in 12th position, he finished in 6th position, giving Giancarlo his first point of the season. Morbidelli finished in 14 position.
