Vehicle Detail
Wow, what an awesome winter project. This all steel Ca slant nose convertible conversion has a lot going for it: Rust free, high quality build, excellent body and paint, great crack free interior, perfect lines and gaps, accident free, 3.0L with SSI and stainless exhaust, 3.2L intake with custom Megasquirt EFI, Mallory ignition, beautiful 8&9x16 period Ronal wheels, correct front valance and rubber turbo spoiler lip (rare on these conversions), power seats, manual top, front strut tower brace, Koni's, correct and also rare round pop up headlights, and much, much more. Like many of these 80's custom cars, this one has sat now for several years. We rescued it out of a local Sacramento garage and cleaned it up and got it running again (see video link). Runs great and sounds amazing but runs rich, making it load up and hard to drive. One of the wires from the o2 sensor appears to have melted against the motor at some point and is likely throwing off the Megasquirt EFI electronicaly programable brain under the front seat (replaces the Lamda box otherwise used with the 3.0L CIS system). Some basic level understanding of the Megasquirt EFI system, and wiring, should be all thats needed to sort out this issue. PPI is more than welcome on this car. Everything else seems to be in great shape. All of the aftermarket external motor stuff mentioned looks new. Shifts flawlessly with a Short Shifter and goes in out of all 5 gears and reverse with ease and precision. Shift bushings feel new and snug. With anything that has sat this long, tires should be replaced (even though tread looks great and even), brakes should be checked out, and all fluids flushed and/or changed. We did already drain fuel and replace with fresh high octane fuel and octane boost prior to starting it up. Paint and finish really are amazing on the car. All steel. Guards Red. Original Silver car. Trunk and engine compartments were left original color and make it very easy to see just how clean, rust and accident free this donor car must have been. All in all, a fantastic opportunity for the right buyer. If this were a project I would complete for myself, I would want to have it lowered and corner balanced, replace the top (not bad, but old), have the fuel managment issue fixed, replace the tires and schedule a full service. That is really all that this car needs to be a show stopping, dailer driver, vintage hotrod... but so much more could be done to create your own personal hotrod (Think Lindsey 17" Fuchs, aftermarket Turbo, roll cage, headers, etc..). Remember this beast never needs smogged again! A huge plus over and actaul M505 Stant Nose Turbo. This one is priced to sell. Clean, clear Ca title.
