Vehicle Detail

1968 AMC AMX project car. Rare original Tahiti Turquoise paint color. 290/automatic vehicle with no power options. Drum brakes. I have had the engine running briefly and it sounded good--no rattles or noises. Car tried to take off in reverse when it was running so the transmission isn't dead either. Shows about 79k on the odometer, which could be accurate since the car has been off the road since 1979. This car is a solid body. The roof is just surface rusted. The quarters, rockers, frame rails and trunk are all solid. There are a couple of small spots in the floorboard that need to be patched, but nothing terrible at all. The front troughs are clean and solid as well. Could use another trunk lid. The hood is in poor condition but it could be saved with some work. Does need a radiator support. One fender is decent, the other is serviceable but needs some attention. The turbine wheels in the photos are not included in the sale (they may be available separately--that can be negotiated). Also, the Holley carb in the photos is not included (but may be available separately). Make no mistake--this is a serious project car. It has most components but by no means is everything there needed to complete the car. The missing parts are usually readily available through one of the AMC parts vendors or eBay. However, this is a very unusual AMX in that it is an early production 1968 model and it is equipped with the 290 and automatic--a low production variation on the car which makes it a bit rarer than most. I would like to keep the car and restore it, but I have two other cars to work on that take priority over this one and I'm tired of it sitting around in the way. This will be sold with a GA bill of sale only--too old for a title. Georgia does not do titles for cars older than 1986. I have already checked with the Georgia DMV--this car is not in their system and I was advised that insurance and bill of sale is all that is needed to get it registered. If you have a question as to how to register it in your state, contact your state's DMV and ask them how they deal with Georgia Bill Of Sale Only cars. This car is worth this amount all day long in parts and it's a solid enough project that you'd save yourself a lot of money by not having to replace lots of rusty metal. There will be no negotiation on this---if you don't agree, don't waste both of our times. See 249 photos of this car at: http://s296.photobucket.com/user/amcnut/library/Tahiti%20Turquoise%2068%20AMX%20for%20sale Also--what you see in the photos is what you get (excepting wheels & carb).I also have available an original AM radio, center console, and an almost new black cutpile carpet set that are included but not shown in photos. It should go without saying but I'll say it anyway: this car is sold AS-IS. There are no warranties expressed or implied. This is a PROJECT CAR and should be considered as such.
