1968 Pontiac Firebird Coupe Car is located in North East Ohio - car was originally from San Luis Obispo, CA and I had it transported here in 2005. The car has been sitting in my attached garage since that time waiting to be restored. Eight years and three kids later, I now realize I will not be able to complete this project. This car was built in the Van Nuys Factory in Califonia. Fisher body unit number 3,127 built the 4th week of April 1968. The paint was a custom factory paint order (I-1) Autumn Bronze, my research shows this color was not available until later in the production year. This car has previously been repainted, air shocks and traction bars added, aluminum slots on rear and aluminum turbine wheels on front, Kraco tape deck and Kraco turbo speakers added...typical 80's modifications. Overall condition is fair needing restoration. Rear floor pans and trunk are solid, there is one spot in right rear of trunk approximately 2"x1" that will need patched as well as the front floor pans. Toe area, transmission tunnel and area along the rocker panel are solid allowing them to be patched without replacing the entire front floor pan. Please see pics for more detail. 350 Cu. In. 265 HP motor and 2 Spd. Powerglide (Auto). I was told the engine was original to the car, but have been told the code on the motor was for the GTO not the Firebird. The code is YN 341659 the heads are #17 (1968 GTO & Firebird) and the exhaust manifolds and intake have L127 (December 12, 1967) typical of an early 68 build. So I am not sure if the numbers match or not. When I had the car brought here in 2005 by a transporting service it was dropped off a few miles from my house and I drove it home, put it in the garage and that is where it has sat ever since. I removed the battery because it leaked and corroded the battery tray and it will need a new one. I tried to start it but either the gas is old or the fuel pump will also need replaced. I placed a battery from my daily driver in it and manually poored fuel into the carb and it fired and ran, took a video of it running. Please send me an email if you would like this sent to you, I assure you it is not froze/locked up. It will need to be trailered as I am not buying a battery, draining the fuel tank or replacing the fuel pump. I think it just needs the gas drained and fresh put in and it will fire.
