Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Overview: Up for sale is my 1965 Ford Mustang coupe. I bought the car a few years back, but unfortunately work hasn't allowed me to spend much time with it. So I'm passing on, hoping someone will be able to drive it like it should be enjoyed. All in all it is a good daily driver and has the potential to be a very nice car with a little work. Again according to the VIN tag this is an original 6 cylinder / Ford-O-matic automatic transmission and this one appears to be original. This car was built in San Jose. Currently the car is plated on YOM black plates. If you've ever tried to get a matched pair of black plates with the correct sticker you know how much work and expense this can be. A reproduction owner’s manual goes with the car as well. Mechanical: The car runs and drives well. It has the usual Carter hesitation and rough idle until the engine has warmed up. I've had it tuned up with new plugs, points, rotor, cap and wires. The manifold had a crack in it, which I have had repaired. The hoses and belts are in good condition. All lights and horn work, I've not had occasion to try the heater, but the controls move smoothly. I installed a Rally Pack, but have not as yet hooked it up. I also have the adapter to allow the tach to work with a 6-cylinder engine. Exterior: The car was restored at some time in the past, but needs some additional work now. The original color according to the VIN tag was vintage burgundy, and you can see bits of that under the hood where the red paint has peeled off. The weatherstrip is getting tired and will need replacement eventually. As noted above the car has been repainted red. The repaint is OK but not show quality. I think the car was dismantled to paint it. The panels were not gauged when put back together. The gaps are inconsistent. There is a slight nick on one of the rear fender caps. The tires are original 13 inch with factory spoke type covers. Interior: The interior is black, and in fair condition. At some point a previous owner put some screws through the dash to mount a CB microphone. Now there are two ugly holes there. The rear seat bottom center needs reupholstering as it has split. There is a JVC AM/FM/Cassette radio in the car, the original radio knob holes are still in the dash. The inside of the engine compartment has been detailed at some point in the past, but needs some freshening up. I have many of the underhood decals to detail the engine compartment that goes with the car. Note: The car is sold as is where is, no warranty of any kind is expressed or implied. The car is being advertised locally and I reserve the right to end this auction in the event the car sells locally.
