Vehicle Detail
This Honda Transalp XL600V has been my most favorite bike I have ever owned. Although there were five other bikes in my garage at the same time, the Transalp was always was the go-to bike. If you are not familiar with the Honda Transalp, look it up and read the history. It really works well on the rough and twisty Pennsylvania roads, and can travel the occasional trail. This bike has 23,824 miles, and is a 1989. The engine is Honda's popular 600cc V-twin, liquid cooled, with five speeds. It is known for its ability to run for many miles. I changed the oil every 2500 miles or once a year. The chain and sprockets have around 2200 miles since new. The clutch plates and springs were replaced last year. The front tire is at half-tread, and the rear tire has only 400 miles since new. I have done all the maintenance myself, and would not hesitate to take this bike for trip tomorrow. It has a 4.8 gallon fuel tank, and the miles-per-gallon range between 51 and 55, providing a total range of over 220 miles. Extras on the Transalp include: Corbin seat (original seat included) Givi engine guards Givi tall windshield (original windshield included) Tank Bag with rain cover Givi 45 liter monokey trunk box and mount Progressive fork springs Dirt-Skin fork seal covers Supertrapp exhaust with rear deflector Muffler Guard to keep expensive nylon pants off the exhaust Re-jetted to start easy and run clean K&N air filter Replacement CDI's, with one original as a spare Original tool kit I purchased this Transalp from the first owner. He laid it down on the right side to miss a deer sometime during the mid 1990's. It sat in his garage until I found it in 2001. I repaired some damage, and replaced other parts until it would pass a PA State inspection. It has a reconstructed title because of the repairs. I have taken it on a few trips, including the Blue Ridge Mountains, West Virgina mountains and to Florida. It has been very reliable. It is not a showroom bike because it has been ridden and shows some age. The decals on the fairings have some peeling at the edges, and there is a small dent on the right side of the tank hidden by the bullet-hole sticker. There is a brush-painted touch-up on the left side of the fairing from a tie-down scratch. Over-all, it is nice enough to keep clean, to wax and be proud to own. The Transalp always gets attention wherever it goes. It was sold in the USA from 1989 to 1990, but it was available in Europe for another two decades or more. It is still a popular adventure-touring bike because of the durability and long-travel suspension. I am located in Bradford, PA., about 80 miles south of Buffalo, NY. and 90 miles east of Erie, PA.
