Vehicle Detail
1972 JAVELIN SST - Coded from the factory as a Hi Performance 360 4bbl - 4 speed (now has 3 speed manual transmission). The car has been in storage for several years, and does need to be restored, or you can do a minimum amount of work and have a decent car. The car drives and stops OK around the block, but will need a good tune up and carb rebuild. Due the fact the car as been in storage for several years, I would not consider the car road worthy at this time. Original color is Jolly Green. Manual steering and brakes. The radiator fits the car, but it may not be the correct one. New Hurst Indy Shifter. New U-joints. Previous owner said the mileage was correct (has not turned over), but I have nothing to substantiate that. Interior: Overall in decent condition, but will need front seat covers, carpeting, and headliner. Headliner is there, but will need new cloth covering (new cloth covering is included with car). Body: Body is solid, but will need lower rear quarter patch panels (the outer panels have some bubbles). Their also appears to have had some poor body work done on the left rear quarter panel at some point, due to some minor damage, but that should be able to be reworked and repaired easily. The floors, frame rails, trunk floor and wheelhouses, are all solid and appear to be in good condition. Paint is old, with chips and scratches here and there, and will need a good paint job. Engine/drivetrain: Starts and idles well, but will need a good tune up and carb rebuild (automatic choke does not work) Idles with 25 lbs oil pressure and 40 lbs at cruising speed. I'm not sure if it the original engine, but it is a 360. Has a temporary single exhaust on it now. New Hurst Indy shifter and new u-joints. Transmission shifts OK. I took the car on a 5 mile drive and it drove OK - but I would not consider the car road worthy - and will need to be trailered. 14" Wheels are in fair condition - tires have excellent tread. I had plans to restore the car as a resto-mod, with a Mopar 8 3/4 rear end, 5 speed transmission, 4 wheel disc brakes, Minilite wheels (the car has huge wheel wells for big tires) but I have other project cars, and can't complete them all. I think this could be a great car with an easy restoration (or do minimal work and drive as is), and you will have a lot less into it, then trying to restore a Cuda or Challenger. Deposit of $300.00 required at the end of the auction if you are the wining bidder. The car will need some work, and/or restoration and is being sold as is. No warranty.
