Vehicle Detail
Hello, Offered is a rare chance to own a very legit California 142S. The Volvo market is strange. Sometimes really high, sometimes low and because I have a low reserve, someone could get a fantastic deal. The car was sold to me about 2 years ago from California. It had some body rust, had been painted brown, and the interior was rough, but it ran well. I painted it back to factory white, including fiberglass body work and very little Bondo. You won't win any shows with the paint, but it looks good as a driver. I'm starting to see some rust again in the door jamb, but just a hint of orange and no bubbles. Cosmetic touches include gray light bezels, new reflectors, antenna, yellow headlights, chrome lug covers, cool dice valve caps. The interior includes a quilted tunnel cover, dyed seat belts, unmolested dash with a stereo box made from a cigar box. Stereo and speakers not included. The rotten switches were replaced with dice or some other trinket, and the shifter knob is a red 3-ball. I replaced the points/condensor with an electronic ignition, fixed some leaks, replaced the horn etc. The brake light recently came on, and I ordered the interior drum parking brake pads but haven't put them on yet. All in all, a pretty cool little 142. I was driving it daily until a new job gave me a 40 mile commute, and I didn't want to put the car through 200 miles/week in stop and go traffic, so I bought another Volvo -- this time a 240 with air. I parked this 142 about a year ago and have only driven it once since, and that was when I listed it here a while back. I'll charge the battery and start it, but you should ship or tow it home. The car is 44 years old and the furthest I've driven it is 20 miles. It ran cool and well, and while parts are easy to get, I have to wait a day or two and you won't run into Auto Zone to pick up what it would need. This would make a great track car or commuter if you'd like. No air conditioning!
