Vehicle Detail
1965 Mustang Convertible - Original sheetmetal Texas car Description 1965 Mustang Convertible San Jose built car and shipped to Texas where it spent it's life. Was taken off the road in the early 80's due to a bad engine. Engine bay was never disturbed or painted. Had original factory stampings (PAINT OK, ACOK, ect) which I have documented. Had surface rust but not rot. Power steering, power top, power brakes and A/C original car. Warranty Number: 5R08C155186 Year: 5 1965 Plant: R San Jose, CA Body Series: 08 Convertible Engine: C 289 2v V8 Unit: 155186 155186 Miscellaneous Vehicle Data Body: 76A Convertible, Standard Interior Color: Y Silver Blue Metallic Trim: D2 White Crinkle Vinyl with Blue Appointments, Standard Interior Date: 02L November 02, 1964 D.S.O: 61 Dallas Axle: 6 2.80:1, Conventional Trans: 6 C4 Automatic Just recently put back on the road and the current drive train has about 45k on it from what I was told. This Mustang is almost completely restored and just needs a few finishing touches which I have run out of time and money to complete and unfortunately need to let go. Was put back to original specs with a Silver Blue exterior paint job and white with blue accent interior. Restoration specs: Suspension: New upper/lower control arms/ball joints, shocks, front springs, tie rods, end links. Pretty much everything besides the rear leaf springs which are still in fine condition. Brakes: New power booster, master cylinder, all soft hoses, wheel cylinders. Drive train: '65 289 engine with about 45k miles and Weiand intake. New Edelbrock carb (electric choke), water pump, fuel pump, starter, alternator, 4 row aluminum radiator, all new plugs and wires, belts, solenoid, regulator, engine feed wiring harness, coil, battery, gas tank and sender. '66 C4 transmission with new front and rear seals. It has developed a leak from sitting. I have not been able to track it down yet. Smooth shifting and running though. Exhaust: New patriot Try-Y style headers, 2" dual exhaust with H-pipe and chrome turn down tips. Interior: Seats have new foam cushion and upholster, New door panels, door/window handles, carpet, dash pad, kick panels, quarter trim, turn signal, instrument cluster bezel, rear view mirror, seat belts, door sills, sun visors and rods, header trim, shifter handle and T handle with a new shifter bezel. Car originally had a center console which is almost finished being restored (needs rear light lens and shift indicator section) Has some cracks along the bottom side but is hidden by the seats. This is included with the car. Original steering wheel and horn ring. AM radio turns on but no speaker. A/C unit needs to be charged. Compressor kicks on and did blow cool air before being drained and removed during restoration. Exterior: Has newer paint which is nice but driver quality. The car had no rust repair but did have some molding down the side at some point which was riveted on. I welded the rivet hole but the guy I had do the finishing on skimming the welds and paint did not do a great job blocking them and the are visible when looked at different angles. There are some imperfections in the sheet metal as it is all original (except for the rear valance) and was not massaged or worked over as this was going to be a driver. The good thing is it is all original and could be easily be repainted if show car status is what you are going for. Original windshield trim, boot trim, grille, quarter molding, wipers, back up lights and turn signal lamps. New bumpers, door handle, emblems, horse corral and bars, antenna, side view mirror, head lamps, tail light chrome, hood lip chrome and gas cap. New American Racing Torq-Thrust 15" wheels and new 255/50/15 Kuhmo tires. Misc: New door weatherstripping, jamb/window seals and bumpers, trunk weatherstripping and bumpers, hood to cowl weatherstripping, hood bumpers, washer bag and hoses, trunk mat and heater core. Convertible top: Top works perfectly and frame is painted. Needs a new top put on as it currently has no top. New top pads, cables and well liner included with the car. To be finished it would need the trans leak fixed (which I will try and get taken care of this week), a new top installed, center console finished and installed and the instrument cluster may need to be changed as the speedometer does not work and it does have a new speedometer cable. A working cluster will be included with the car. Horn intermittently works. I welcome anyone to come and see the car or ask any questions before bidding and before the auction is over. I've tried and give a accurate and complete explanation of the car with multiple photos but it is an almost 50 year old car so if you need any further info please contact me or come see it for yourself. SOLD AS IS/WHERE IS Buyer is responsible for pickup and transportation. If being shipped it will need to be in an enclosed trailer as there is no top. A $200 deposit is due at auction end with remainder of payment due within 3 days of auction end via cash in person or wire transfer. See my other listings for more great items!
