Vehicle Detail
I am a motorcycle collector and I have fun going all over the States picking up classic vintage bikes.I purchased this from a proud owner about 8 months ago from a gentleman back in Missouri. The CB450 K1 came out in 1968 and went until early 1969. This is an early 1969 K1 since it has the reflector on the front fender. Later in 1969 the CB450 K2 came out which also had the reflector on the fender on the early bikes. It is a cool feature and only in 1969. I can't help but say that I think this is one of the nicest looking Honda's ever made back in the day. This replaced the "Black Bomber". It is a 5-speed instead of the 4-speed and the tank was redesigned to a much more appealing shape and look. The tank and side covers retain the original paint and the color is very deep and not faded. There are a few small scratches I tried to show in the pictures, but no dents. The chrome panels are in excellent shape and so are the knee pads. The tank has been sealed and has no issues. Did you check out that original seat? I can't imagine finding a nicer one. It is a one only, heavy grain top and a different grain on the sides. I believe the foam has been replaced since it is in such nice shape and not hard. The seat pan is in great shape too. The K1 and K2 are the last CB450's to have the cool old style mufflers and the dual leading front drum brake that definitely works. The mufflers are the nicest I have ever seen without being NOS or re-chromed. No dents or rust issues and only mild polishing swirls noticeable in some areas. Check out the pics. The rest of the chrome on the wheels and fenders are in great shape with only mild imperfections. The black paint on the frame and fork tubes have a few minor chips here and there. The bike is in tune and runs great and has no oil leaks. I replaced the shifter seal. I am going to replace the battery this week because it is a bit weak. All the lights work as they should and the horn does too.It is a pleasure to ride and although it is in beautiful condition it is not so perfect that you are afraid to take it out and ride it. Please note the Vin # is CB450-3008101 Eng# CB450E3008109It is pretty rare to be so close as 8 digits apart. The tires are period correct Dunlops in great shape. Well anyway if you have been looking for nice CB450K1, here you go.I was going to put a reserve on this but I am just going to put a realistic starting price and see where it goes. I sold a real nice CB450K2 a couple of months ago and it went for $6000. It was Ruby Red. Please ask any questions prior to bidding and bid with confidenceI will work with the shipper of your choice. Thanks
