The truck is a 2003 Ford Ranger XLT 4 Door (super cab) with a 6 foot bed. It has the 4.0L V6 with Automatic transmission w/ overdrive and is rear wheel drive. I took it to Minnesota not long ago and averaged 22 miles per gallon, I would guess about 18 in the city. It has about 145,000 miles on it and is dark blue with a gray and black cloth interior. The paint is somewhat faded from living in California for the first 8 years of its life; it could be brightened considerably if someone took a weekend with a polisher and some compound and wax. I am the second owner as of August 2011 / 128,000 miles and know the first owner very well. He is an aircraft mechanic and former aeronautical engineer so he was rather meticulous about maintenance. I have never had any repairs or failures on it, just normal oil changes and I replaced the front brake pads at about 140,000 miles. The rotors were in good shape and didn’t need to be turned. It brakes evenly and accelerates and shifts through all gears smoothly. The 4.0 is a great combination for reasonable mileage and the ability to do some light/medium towing. Surprisingly easy to handle in the snow for a rear wheel drive pickup. It was previously serviced at Buerge Ford in Los Angeles, CA and all records are on file. The oil is currently about ready to be changed, but I plan on leaving it so the new owner/potential buyer may inspect it. I have the ‘AutoCheck’ report available and it shows clean minus a California emissions failure in 2009 that was taken again 6 days and 200 miles later and passed. The additional options/unique features it has are: · California car for the first 8 years of its life · Smoke free for both owners · Locking fiberglass bed cover which encloses and secures the bed area - it is also removable with 2 people in about 5 minutes · Two jump seats in the cab to allow seating for 2 extra people for short trips · Power windows and locks, manually sliding rear window · 2 sets of keys – keyless entry · 4 wheel anti-lock brakes · Air Conditioning blows cold, heat blows hot · Cruise Control · 6 Disc in-dash CD Player (disc 2 and 3 seem to not work so well) · There is a liner in the bed · It has a trailer hitch with light connection (factory towing package) Known defects/issues: · CD slots 2 and 3 don’t work very well · Small chip in lower right hand corner of windshield – hasn’t spread or spider webbed through 2 Chicago winters · Normal dents/chips/scratches for a 10 year old truck · Left lock on bed cover needs lubrication · Paint faded · Tires near end of life It has normal wear and tear for a 10 year old truck. The paint is faded, there are normal dents and scratches, and the wheels are a bit dirty with brake dust. Beyond that it is in very strong mechanical condition. I would replace the tires before the next winter as they are getting down to the end of their lifespan. Blue book on it is $6250 for a private-party sale; I am kicking the bid off at $3,000 and seeing where we end up. I hold the clean title.
