WHAT MAKES THIS VEHICLE VERY SPECIAL IS THAT IT'S AN EARLY 'EURO' CAR WHICH MEANS IT WAS BORN AS BMW INTENDED WITH IT'S HIGH COMPRESSION 3.5 LITRE ENGINE, CLOSE RATIO GERTRAG DOG LEG FIVE SPEED MANUAL, SLIM BUMPERS, NO CATALYTIC CONVERTERS, LOWER RIDE HEIGHT ETC. A FAR CONTRAST TO THE DILUTED U.S. VERSION WHICH LOST AROUND 35H.P. DUE TO IT'S EMISSION STRANGLED THERMAL REACTED NIGHTMARE ENGINE, LARGE UGLY BUMPERS, RAISED RIDE HEIGHT AND NO DOG LEG FIVE SPEED GEARBOX ETC. WHEN WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IT WAS TOWED TO MY MECHANIC, WHO SET ABOUT GETTING THE VEHICLE OPERATIONAL AGAIN AFTER IT'S 17 YEAR SLEEP. THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED, GAS TANK REMOVED AND CLEANED, LINES ETC. HE ALSO REPLACED ALL SIX FUEL INJECTORS WITH BRAND NEW ONES, AS THE OLD ONES WERE STUCK SOLID. AFTER THE CAR WAS STARTED IT SOUNDS FINE WITH NO ABNORMAL NOISES. BUT IS RUNNING VERY RICH WITH AN ERRATIC IDLE AND UNEVEN RUNNING WITH FUEL SMELLING SMOKE FROM THE TAILPIPE. THE MECHANIC TELLS ME THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR COULD BE THE PROBLEM. BUT WHO KNOWS? I THEN DROVE THE VEHICLE AROUND THE COMPLEX, THE GEARBOX AND CLUTCH WORK FINE, NO SYNCRO PROBLEMS. THE SUSPENSION AND STEERING FEEL TIGHT. THE BRAKES ARE STICKING BUT THE PEDAL IS FIRM. THE SPEEDOMETER AND ODOMETER WORK CORRECTLY, SO THAT'S WHERE WE ARE NOW. IT RUNS AND DRIVES BUT ALL THE MECHANICAL SYSTEMS WILL NEED RESTORATION TO BECOME A SAFE AND RELIABLE CAR AFTER BEING STORED FOR SO LONG. THE WHEELS ARE THE FACTORY CORRECT BBS MESH STYLE 14" ALLOYS (VERY DESIRABLE) BUT THE TIRES ARE OLD AND DRY ROTTED. THE EXTERIOR PAINT ACTUALLY SHOW'S WELL WITH SOME BLEMISHES ON THE DECKLID AND NUMEROUS RUST SPOTS, THE BODY IS VERY STRAIGHT WITH NO DENTS. THE CAR WAS ORIGINALY SILVER WHEN IT WAS NEW! THERE IS SOME RUST ON THE PASSENDER FLOOR FOOTWELL AREA SEE PICS. THE INTERIOR HAS HELD UP WELL WITH THE FACTORY ORIGINAL LEATHER SEATS WHICH HAVE NEVER BEEN REPAIRED OR DYED. THE HEADLINER IS GOOD AS WELL AS THE CARPETS. THE STEERING WHEEL IS AN AFTERMARKET MOMO 'M' EDITION AND IS LIKE NEW. THE RADIO IS MISSING AS WELL. THE DOOR PANELS ARE IN GOOD SHAPE. I AM VERY EXCITED TO OFFER THIS RARE EURO EDITION 635 CSI THAT HAS JUST BEEN RETRIEVED FROM A 17 YEAR HIBERNATION (LAST REGISTERED AND USED IN 1997). WHAT MAKES THIS VEHICLE VERY SPECIAL IS THAT IT'S AN EARLY 'EURO' CAR WHICH MEANS IT WAS BORN AS BMW INTENDED WITH IT'S HIGH COMPRESSION 3.5 LITRE ENGINE, CLOSE RATIO GERTRAG DOG LEG FIVE SPEED MANUAL, SLIM BUMPERS, NO CATALYTIC CONVERTERS, LOWER RIDE HEIGHT ETC. A FAR CONTRAST TO THE DILUTED U.S. VERSION WHICH LOST AROUND 35H.P. DUE TO IT'S EMISSION STRANGLED THERMAL REACTED NIGHTMARE ENGINE, LARGE UGLY BUMPERS, RAISED RIDE HEIGHT AND NO DOG LEG FIVE SPEED GEARBOX ETC. WHEN WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IT WAS TOWED TO MY MECHANIC, WHO SET ABOUT GETTING THE VEHICLE OPERATIONAL AGAIN AFTER IT'S 17 YEAR SLEEP. THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED, GAS TANK REMOVED AND CLEANED, LINES ETC. HE ALSO REPLACED ALL SIX FUEL INJECTORS WITH BRAND NEW ONES, AS THE OLD ONES WERE STUCK SOLID. AFTER THE CAR WAS STARTED IT SOUNDS FINE WITH NO ABNORMAL NOISES. BUT IS RUNNING VERY RICH WITH AN ERRATIC IDLE AND UNEVEN RUNNING WITH FUEL SMELLING SMOKE FROM THE TAILPIPE. THE MECHANIC TELLS ME THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR COULD BE THE PROBLEM. BUT WHO KNOWS? I THEN DROVE THE VEHICLE AROUND THE COMPLEX, THE GEARBOX AND CLUTCH WORK FINE, NO SYNCRO PROBLEMS. THE SUSPENSION AND STEERING FEEL TIGHT. THE BRAKES ARE STICKING BUT THE PEDAL IS FIRM. THE SPEEDOMETER AND ODOMETER WORK CORRECTLY, SO THAT'S WHERE WE ARE NOW. IT RUNS AND DRIVES BUT ALL THE MECHANICAL SYSTEMS WILL NEED RESTORATION TO BECOME A SAFE AND RELIABLE CAR AFTER BEING STORED FOR SO LONG. THE WHEELS ARE THE FACTORY CORRECT BBS MESH STYLE 14" ALLOYS (VERY DESIRABLE) BUT THE TIRES ARE OLD AND DRY ROTTED. THE EXTERIOR PAINT ACTUALLY SHOW'S WELL WITH SOME BLEMISHES ON THE DECKLID AND NUMEROUS RUST SPOTS, THE BODY IS VERY STRAIGHT WITH NO DENTS. THE CAR WAS ORIGINALY SILVER WHEN IT WAS NEW! THERE IS SOME RUST ON THE PASSENDER FLOOR FOOTWELL AREA SEE PICS. THE INTERIOR HAS HELD UP WELL WITH THE FACTORY ORIGINAL LEATHER SEATS WHICH HAVE NEVER BEEN REPAIRED OR DYED. THE HEADLINER IS GOOD AS WELL AS THE CARPETS. THE STEERING WHEEL IS AN AFTERMARKET MOMO 'M' EDITION AND IS LIKE NEW. THE RADIO IS MISSING AS WELL. THE DOOR PANELS ARE IN GOOD SHAPE.
