Vehicle Detail

Hello! You are bidding on one 1995 e34 platform 525i. This particular vehicle has been in my employ since 2006 and is being sold due to it no longer being driven. I bought it off the lot on 06 and have enjoyed its persistence. However, I have recently purchased a new BMW and my wife has an 06. So she has got to go. 1995 was the final year for this platform and is the most desirable incarnation with a full leather interior, power everything, premium sound and sunroof. The 95 also has body colored trim instead of the black skirts and lower bumpers in addition to the padded ripple leather door cards instead of the regular vinyl inserts. Another plus on the 94-95 models is the production of 215 hp by the M50 inline 6 cyl power plant. These were not on the 89-92s. Instead they utilize an older incarnation that most shops prefer to stay away from. The M50 has reached near mythical fame by way of its near bulletproof construction and infallible reliability. A good example with reasonable maintenance can reach mileage of 300 thousand miles without trouble. Its versatility and potential to push up to 6-700hp to the wheels with modifications has made this exact motor BMW’s most adapted and most desirable motor to date. This particular example is whisper quiet with no valve noise. It pulls strongly through the rev range and springs to life with the turn of a key with no hesitation. Under hood is clean and tidy and at no point has this car had any modifications (exempting the radio/cd player). The Serpentine belt was replaced 3 months ago and the car passed smog nicely shortly after. The 02 sensor relay was also replaced. The engine does not leak or burn oil. It does not leak coolant and you could park it on a white canvas if so inclined. Power is transmitted through a smooth shifting automatic transmission that has never missed a beat during my tenure of ownership. Upon exiting the torque finds its way spinning along a freshly rebuilt 2 piece driveshaft and south to the differential. The trans does not “bump” or lurch when shifted and is comparable to most of BMW’s more contemporary models. The rear wheel drive finds sure footing on 4 uprated 16 inch BMW wheels sourced from a 2004 BMW bringing the aesthetic into the modern world while providing a more easily cleaned surface. Wheels are shod with Nexus tires. The tires have tread left but are not brand new and could use a balance as there is a subtle vibration above 75 mph. The suspension has just been serviced. The front control arms, tie rod ends, struts and bushings have been replaced and aligned. The vehicle corners flat. It does not rattle or chatter and is quiet enough for low conversation with silent people. The body has some issues that will need resolving to be showroom spec. There is a crack in the lower bumper and it needs respraying. The hood and trunk lid have faded or peeled and the gas flap will require a new hinge (still have the flap with good paint). The sheet metal is straight with absolutely no dents or knocks. All panels fit perfectly and shut tightly. Being a southern California car from birth this 5 has only one area with surface rust near the hood that is the size of a penny. The repairs overall are not costly and if one were inclined a few hundred dollars could have this Kashmir beige metallic 5 ready for the shows again. The interior is immaculate with the exception of a tear that sits on the right bolster of the passenger seat. The tear is the size of a paper clip and will need a new bolster to be showroom. The dash has no discoloration or cracks. All instrumentation works perfectly with no check engine lights and the multi-function display works perfectly. The door cards are mint with no scuffs or scratches as is the headliner. Over the years any interior components that were worn were not fixed but replaced and all vinyl and leather pieces have been treated with conditioner without fail on a weekly basis. Custom 190 dollar floor mats have just in the last months replaced the originals that were no longer adequate. The original steering wheel was no longer presentable and an upgrade was sourced from a restoration supply shop in Germany. The steering wheel is a German issue M5 wheel with completely re wrapped leather and M stitching. Costing close to $500 this steering wheel has a quality re wrap on par with an A1 restoration and is comparable with BMW’s new models. It adds a sporty feel and its thicker diameter give it a modern look with a very comfortable grip. The factory radio is being replaced with an Alpine cd player as we speak. The original will be included in the sale. In the trunk you will find all the literature from the factory. Radio code, owner’s manual, dealer network, period correct dealer aftermarket options and all wrapped in the dealer supplied BMW literature case. Concealed beneath the carpet you will find a factory full-size spare wrapped in a near new Michelin. Now for the issues. The aforementioned fading on the hood and trunk, the small tear on the pass seat, The rear window switch needs the contacts cleaned and the trunk carpet will need a power washing. There isn’t any grease or anything like that on it but it has dust on it. The car has never been modified, I don’t smoke and anyone that does is asked to get out and I don’t have a dog. If I did I still wouldn’t let him in the car. Lastly the AC belt needs replacing. I have spent thousands on upkeep on this vehicle. You can buy this one for the bidding or you can buy another one and spend thousands getting it solid after paying the asking price. . . Your choice. . . Any questions are welcome. I will try to answer as quickly as possible. Buyer pays and arranges shipping if required. This car is VERY DEPENDABLE, has had regular service and an owner that is OCD about keeping up on things (as you can tell) but it is near 20 years old so there is no warranty. Thank you and happy bidding!!!
