The 2012 Fisker Karma is a four-door, four seat plug-in hybrid electric luxury sedan. For up to 50 miles, the vehicle drives gas- and tailpipe-emissions-free using electricity stored in its lithium-ion battery. When the Karma's battery runs low, a gas-powered, engine/generator seamlessly operates to extend the driving range another 250 miles on a full tank. In addition to its reduced-emission propulsion system, the Karma features a variety of environmentally-conscious and sustainable materials. The Fisker Karma's Q-Drive system includes dual 150 kW electric traction motors mounted to a differential between the rear wheels that deliver a combined 403 hp (300kW) and a peak torque rating of 981 lb-ft at zero rpm; a 20kWh lithium-ion battery; and a 260-horsepower turbocharged direct-injected 2.0-liter gasoline range extender that generates electricity.
