This Mustang was purchased by a couple in July 1964 at Ben Alexander Ford in San Francisco, Ca. In 1980 the husband died and it was put into storage until I bought it in 2000. It had 57xxx original miles on it. In the 12 yrs. I've had it it's been in my garage, driven now and then and now has 82xxx original miles on it. Wimbledon White, Black Interior, 170 c.u. Six Cylinder, Three Speed Transmission, Excellent Condition In and Out. No Rust. Including this in your description may increase interest and value.. A Mustang is called 64 1/2 if it was built between March and approximately August 1, 1964.. The info on your owners manual shows "14G" or 14th of July 1964 for an assembly date. The VIN number shows "U" which indicates the 170 cubic inch engine only used on 64 1/2 cars. Also, these early cars were equipped with generators while later cars had an alternator... Great car! Good luck..To go along with the other comment - which may help in your sale - is that the "R" in the VIN indicates that this Mustang was built at the San Jose Ford Plant. Assembly of the Mustang started at the San Jose plant when the Dearborn plant could not keep up with production - thus Ford decided to start production in San Jose to fill orders on that side of the contry. Your VIN number - the last 6 numbers of the number itself - indicates that this Mustang was one of the first vehicles from San Jose which started production in the first week of July 1964.
