My son and I bought this bike new in 1977 and it has always been garage kept. It was taken off the road in 1988 and kept in storage until 2001. In October 2001, I put it back on the road where it stayed until 2008 when I decided I was getting too old to continue to ride it. Since 08, this bike has been religiously started and run at least every four to six weeks. I live on a farm and I periodically ride it around in the fields to keep everything on it operating. This bike was running good when I let the license expire in 08. Since then, given the way it has been operated, it is beginning to idle a little rough. It needs to be run at highway speed for a few miles. It may need a tune up and probably a new battery. Cosmeticly, this bike is in real good condition. The paint is orginal. There is some sun fade on the top center portion of the gas tank. This bike has alot of engine chrome. In general the chrome is in good condition. The top edge of the timing belt cover does have a few small blisters. There are no dents and no rust on this bike. The tires are essentially new with 956 miles. This bike has the following negatives, none of which affect it's runnability. The top of the seat has two small seam separations which are covered with black tape. The temperture gauge and the fuel gauge (no level sensor) do not work. This bike does not have a reserve lighting unit. It was deactivated in 1977 when we installed a low beam headlight switch on the full fairing we mounted. This was before the mandating of headlight - on in the state of VA. Also, we didn't like the drain on the battery when starting the engine. My son listed this bike on ebay in early April of this year as a touring bike (it had a full fairing and luggage rack). It did not reach the asking price. He did recieve some emails which suggested it would sell better if it were put back to it's orginal configuration. This we have done and we are listing it again hopeing for a better outcome.
