Vehicle Detail

Purchased bike from an Antique Dealer in 2004. Belonged to the Estate of a retired Air Force Officer. The bike had approx. 7600 miles on it and had been in storage since the late 1970's. The bike had been stored dry/no fuel and inside. Comes with official Honda service manual with hand written warranty notes and service/tune up notes since new from original owner. All service and warranty work done at Redlands Honda or Honda North County in Escondido , Ca. The original owner was apparently stationed at Edwards AFB in California as sticker on front fork indicated. Notes show he purchased the bike new in February 1967 at Redlands Honda in Redlands, CA. Also includes notes on replacement of factory 1967 welded exhaust at 300 miles with new straight pipes from a 1966 model. Also, at this time, installed early clutch/brake mounts, early versions with wire adjusters and wire retainers for fork boots.(the prices of parts back then make you want to cry) cheap! All this work was done with 300 miles while the bike was in the shop for warranty work. Frame and engine numbers within 65 digits of each other. Two keys fit ignition and fork lock. I put approx. 1500 miles on the bike since 2004 cruising back roads. In January of 2013 I started major refurbish. The following is what was done to the bike: Frame/Body- Frame was powdercoated Gloss Black. Tank, fenders, side covers, center engine cover were powder coated Silver with Clear Coat. Engine- Cylinders were well within tolerance. Installed new rings and cleaned valves. All new top end gaskets, genuine Honda head gasket. Engine Side Covers- Painted Argent Silver with Clear Coat. Installed the following New Items: NOS Honda Items-Condenser and points, head gasket, Rider and passenger foot peg rubber, rear swing arm dust seals, rubber petcock fitting/fuel screen. Handle bar grips, rear fender mount rubber, new Honda fuel lines and carb bowl vent lines/w clips. New Reproduction Items Installed: New air filter cover cushions, New brake light switch cover, new front fork cover rubber boots, , new Standard brand spark plug wires, new front fork seals, new 350X19 tires, tubes and rim strips f/r, Dulop K70 "replicas", new main stand rubber, new air filters, new rectifier, new ignition wire sheathing. Chain is approx. 2 years old but has less than 400 miles on it. New primary sprocket. Rear sprocket is approx. 4 years old with about 400 miles on it. New seat cover. This bike has the original Chrome on it. The pipes are a little dull at the very ends where the bike was ridden with exhaust muffler. Rims look nice but do have some dulling in the valleys and the front rim has 2 spots of minor chrome deterioration.Does not show in photos. Chrome on handle bars, headlight trim , etc.. in good shape. Overall the bike looks nice but not museum quality. Clean rider and local show bike. The correct bolt for rear of pipes that bolt to frame was lost at plater, I have new one on order. Seat unbolted during photo shoot to get pics under it. There is very small dent on fuel tank that you can not see in photo and you can only see when light hits it just right, you may not even see it but it is there. The front left upper fork cover has a small dent on lower edge from powder coater I think, was not there prior. Again small but it's there. Consider these few flaws when bidding. No warranty stated or implied...it was adult owned and well maintaned..but it is over 40 years old. The speedometer works smoothly and face is not faded (looks very nice). Speedometer rubber mount is soft and near perfect. Had some kind of preservitive on it..maybe military...but kept it soft. Fuel tank is not rusty and has no sealer. Electrics is in working order- lights, horn, brake lights. Cleaned light switch and horn button contacts with new grease for smooth positive operation. New brake shoes f/r, all moving brake parts cleaned for smooth positive brake action. All new cables including clutch, front brake, throttle cable. Rear brake cable is a Honda NOS item from old Honda shop with some yellowing. New battery. This bike has the original battery cover and rubber strap. Carbs were stored dry and amazingly clean and function properly. The neutral light works sometime, did work fine.will check I think it's the connection. Have NOS neautral switch if needed. All nuts/bolts and fasteners were either cadium or zinc plated as required. Including foot peg brackets/coil mounts etc. The bike starts easily, idles smoothly and pulls strongly through all the gears. The bike comes with what looks to be original tool kit, snuff or nots and Honda service manual from the original owner with hand written notes including purchase price , warranty work and routine tune-ups/oil changes up to 7100 miles. The oil cleaner/filter was cleaned regularly. Ask questions. $500 Deposit through paypal immediately. Balance of payment upon pick up in the form of Cash or Cashiers Check. Funds must clear bank before the bike will be released. Should be plenty of shippers in the DFW Area. Clear title ready to put in your name and ride. On May-01-13 at 12:46:21 PDT, seller added the following information: ADDED PHOTOS WITH MUFFLER THAT CAME WITH BIKE IN BOX ALONG WITH TOOL KIT AND SERVICE BOOK . NO RATTLES OR LOOSE BAFFLES INSIDE MUFFLER. RUBBER PACKING IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. CHROME IS OVER 40 YEARS OLD, CAME WITH NO MOUNTING BOLT OR SPACER. PHOTOS OF WHAT IS LEFT OF TOOL KIT, DO NOT KNOW WHAT EXACTLY IS MISSING. ALSO PHOTOS OF HONDA SERVICE MANUAL THAT CAME WITH BIKE. THE ORIGINAL OWNER HAD A CL72 PRIOR TO TRADING FOR THIS CL77. INSIDE ARE NOTES ON CL77 WARRANTY WORK, TUNE/UP ETC.THE ENTRIES ARE IN PENCIL FOR THE MOST PART AND DO NOT SHOW UP IN PHOTOS. PAPER IS YELLOWING AND OILY FROM USE OVER THE YEARS. I RECEIVED A QUESTION AS TO WHY THE ORIGINAL OWNER REPLACED PARTS WITH EARLIER VERSIONS. NO EXPLINATION IS NOTED. I CAN ONLY GUESS THAT HAVING HAD A CL72 PRIOR, HE LIKED THE EARLIER LOOK OF FORK BOOT RETAINER WIRES, WIRE MOUSE TRAP CABLE ADJUSTERS AND STRAIGHT PIPES. THESE ITEMS WERE DELETED FROM PRODUCTION BY THE TIME THIS CL77 ROLLED OFF THE ASSEMBLY LINE. THIS BIKE'S VIN. # IS JUST PRIOR TO CHROME FENDERS BEING ADDED. I AM NOT SURE WHEN THE OWNER WAS STATIONED AT EDWARDS AFB, THERE WERE A COUPLE OF OTHER BASE STICKERS UNDER THE EDWARDS AFB STICKER. I WAS TOLD BY AN AIRMAN THAT THE COLOR OF STICKER INDICATED AN OFFICER. I CALLED REDLANDS HONDA TO INQUIRE IF THEY HAD ANY RECORDS THAT WENT BACK THAT FAR. BUT THEY CHANGED OWNERS IN 1969. DID LEARN THAT THERE IS ANOTHER AFB NEAR REDLANDS AND THEY SERVED MILITARY CUSTOMERS FROM THERE AS WELL AS EDWARDS IN THE LATE 1960'S. DID NOT MENTION IN ABOVE DESCRIPTION THE BIKE HAS A NEW SPEEDOMETER CABLE. MOST REPRODUCTION PARTS CAME FROM TIM MCDONALD'S CL77 RESTORATION PARTS, OHIO NICK AND A NEW COMPANY OUT OF CALIFORNIA THAT IS MAKING RUBBER REPRODUCTIONS FOR CL77'S. THANKS FOR LOOKING. On May-01-13 at 13:17:53 PDT, seller added the following information: THE CHROME ON LOWER PART OF REAR SHOCKS IS IN GOOD CONDITION. NO PITTING OR RUST. WIRING CONNECTORS STILL CLEAR AND SOFT WITH GOOD CONNECTORS. NO SPLICING IN WIRING HARNESS. INSTALLED NEW SILVER/GREY WIRE COVERING FROM VINTAGE CONNECTIONS. On May-04-13 at 03:08:47 PDT, seller added the following information: THE NEUTRAL LIGHT IS NOW WORKING FINE...
