Vehicle Detail

1964 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Convertible. 6 – Cylinder – 4 Speed. 164 cu in (2.7 L) 110 hp . Here is it with no reserve. A nice affordable classic car you can enjoy immediately and fine tune on your spare time. I am no Corvair expert. I buy , sell and drive classics. I’ve owned this car for about of year. All I have done to the car is plugs, wires, points and rebuilt the carburetors. Everything else mentioned is from sight. Please let me know if you want pictures of certain areas. Ask all the questions you would like. I will answer them honestly. I will send you my phone number if you would like to talk with me in person. You should can come and drive and inspect if possible. Paint – I believe it was not professional but is nice for a driver. It does have it's imperfections and some waves. Top – The manual convertible top appears to be new and operates perfectly. There is the original boot with the car. I have never tried to install. Interior – Seats are original and do show signs of wear. No rips. Carpet and door panels appear to be new. Engine – Starts, idles fine. Choke does not work correctly but doesn’t take much to start. No visible smoke or noise. Transmission – Shifts fine and does not make any noise in any gear. Shifter has a little play but I believe it is typical with these cars. Clutch- Operates smooth with no slipage. Glass - All windows go up and down fine with no cracks or chips. Brakes – They do not make any noise and stop perfectly. Exhaust – Engine is fairly quiet. To be correct muffler would need replaced. Trunk- Trunk pan has been replaced. – There is no carpet and there is no rust. Electrical – It has been converted to an alternator. Seems to charge just fine. Lights are in working order. Radio – It has an aftermarket radio that is not working. – The original is included. Not sure if it is working order. Tires – Front tires appear to be new. Rear tires have very good tread but do show signs of cracking. Notes: The 1964 Corvair saw an improvement in the car's swing axle rear suspension with the addition of a transverse leaf spring along with softer rear coil springs designed to diminish rear roll stiffness and foster more neutral handling attributes. Spring rates could now be softer at both ends of the car compared to previous models. The heavy duty suspension was no longer optional, although all models now had a front anti-roll bar as standard. Brakes were improved with finned rear drums. Hagerty Price Guide Shows the following. #4 cars are daily drivers, with flaws visible to the naked eye. The chrome might have pitting or scratches, the windshield might be chipped. Paintwork is imperfect, and perhaps the fender has a minor dent. The interior could have split seams or a cracked dash. No major parts are missing, but the wheels could differ from the originals, or the interior might not be stock. A #4 car can also be a deteriorated restoration. "Fair" is the one word that describes a #4 car. $8,100 #3 cars could possess some, but not all of the issues of a #4 car, but they will be balanced by other factors such as a fresh paint job or a new, correct interior. #3 cars drive and run well, but might have some incorrect parts. These cars are not used for daily transportation but are ready for a long tour without excuses, and the casual passerby will not find any visual flaws. "Good" is the one word description of a #3 car. $12,000 #2 cars could win a local or regional show. They can be former #1 cars that have been driven or have aged. Seasoned observers will have to look closely for flaws, but will be able to find some not seen by the general public. The paint, chrome, glass and interior will all appear as excellent. No excessive smoke will be seen on startup, no unusual noises will emanate from the engine compartment. The vehicle will drive as a new car of its era would. The one word description for #2 cars is "excellent." $16,100 Condition #1 vehicles are the best in the world. The visual image is of the best car, in the right colors, driving onto the lawn at the finest concours. Perfectly clean, the car has been groomed down to the tire treads. Painted and chromed surfaces are mirror-like. Dust and dirt are banned, and materials used are correct and superbly fitted. The one word description for #1 cars is "concours." $21,300 I rate this car with the Hagerty Pricing guidelines as a 3.7 “Fair” to “Good”. It is not “Concours” or “Excellent” according to their guidelines. There are very few “Excellent” and even less “Concours”. I am not representing this car as either. This is an old car with no warrantee. Bought as is, where is. I can store the car for 2 weeks. Buyer must submit a non-refundable $1,000 cash, money order or via PayPay within 3 days of auction close. Full payment within 10 days or I will relist. Buyer must arrange shipment from my door in Sunman, IN. I need to have full payment before it leaves. The car is for sale locally and I will end the auction when someone shows up with the cash. On Apr-27-13 at 10:11:26 PDT, seller added the following information: It is for sale locally for $5,900.
