Vehicle Detail
This is a ABSOLUTE NO RESERVE auction for a Real Deal 1977 Trans Am, 400CI, factory 4 Speed, Factory A/C, Factory Hurts T Top, Original Black and Gold Bandit colors with Black interior. This car was bought from the original owner few years ago, and I am ever going to have time to restore it. How many of these cars with these options and colors can there be left to restore? The engine code in the VIN, the 5th digit is Z which is 400CI Pontiac The original tune up decal says 400CI on it On the Trim Tag paint is 19L 19U is Black On the Trim Tag Interior code is 19R is Black THE GOOD: Besides being the real deal and super desirable Black and Gold Bandit colors combined with Super Rare 4 speed transmission, T Tops, and Air Conditioning, (the combination of 4 speed, T-Tops and A/C is rare) and the car is a great restoration candidate because it is all there. The car is very complete an virgin in the most important areas. Mechanically it is unmolested. Most of these cars have been hot rodded and screwed around with, Not this one! Under hood is complete and the engine has never been out of the car and has been well maintained. Everything is there, only the air cleaner seal and (dryer ducting) ducting from the air cleaner to fender intake housing are gone and they are pennies to replace. The motor runs good (See video link at end of description), has great oil pressure, good compression, and does not smoke at all. Sitting 3 years I would do tune up, paint the motor and use it. The engine still has the original lower rad hose with tower clamps, original chrome valve covers. It is totally unmolested under the hood. Starts right up, Clutch and transmission work great. The A/C system is complete (another oddity in a project car) but not blowing, might need Freon? It is all there and connected. On the interior The dash only has one thin crack someone did a pour attempt at fixing which could be repaired. The radio hole is UNCUT, the console needs the arm rest pad, seats need recovered but seat frames seem to be in good shape. Driver seat track needs replaced. Door panels lower plastic are in good shape and would re dye and re use, but I would replace the vinyl upper door panels. Rear lower side panels in good shape and would re dye and re use. Upper sail panels are missing but easy and cheap to find. The interior parts on these cars is so cheap it amazes me. Body wise, the car is solid around the T Tops which is a miracle it is so solid. And I have all the bolt on front sheetmetal either already installed or comes with the car free. THE BAD: The bad is obvious, the car needs complete body and paint and misc. sheetmetal repair. I already replaced the hood (there are some hood pins holes that have been filled which need proper repair) but it is rust free. I already replaced the Deck lid with a nice original part with a really minor little rust area on the bottom side on one corner, no big deal. I also have for the car and will include free to the buyer original rust free left and right front fenders I already bought but have not installed, they need the normal bodywork but have no rust and are original Trans Am fenders. I also have a core support from a 400 CI car which is really nice to go with the car free. The left quarter panel seems solid around the rear window and wheel opening, might just get by with a patch on the lower rear of the left quarter. The right quarter panel needs to be replaced with a compete quarter panel as it is rusted around the rear window, trunk jam and lower area. I would replace both doors as there are lots of good used rust free doors available cheap. It need floor pans repair in all 4 corners, and it needs either patch's or a full trunk pan whichever you choose. Like I mentioned above, it is solid around the T Tops. The rockers frame rails, sub frame all seem pretty solid. This car does run and drive (see video) and the car WLL dive on a truck which helps tremendously with shipping cost. Buyer to pay actual shipping cost and is responsible for making shipping arrangements, but we can also help from our end Here is a short video of the car driving around the lot. The PS pump is whinning a bit, motor runs great, no smoke, no compression issues. http://s1303.photobucket.com/user/Treasurehub1/media/MOV06740_zps68163219.mp4.html
