For sale is an original 1985 VF700S "Tariff Busters" motorcycle in working road worthy condition. This Honda has a clear Maryland title and is being sold by the owner. The maintenance has ALWAYS been completed using OEM parts when possible. The 4 independent carbs were removed and rebuilt with factory standard jets float needles and seals this past March. The only mod. is the installation of the aluminum fuel cross over tubes that run between the carbs. This was to fix the original Honda problem that would result in cracking. The seat has a new cover on it and the tank was professionally painted gloss black this week. All lights horns and switches work great. This bike was operated on a US military installation and therefore has had a safety inspection performed on it, with no issues found. The original owners manual is included as well as a shop manual. The bike has been a daily rider for years and has some scuffs scratches and dings in some places, but for its age and rarity it is in great shape. Short history lesson: In the early 1980's Harley Davidson pushed the US international trade commission to institute section 202, a measure to limit motorcycles over 700cc into the US because HD was getting destroyed by an invasion of great Japanese bikes. HD was looking at possible failure if they could not "Tariff" out the competition. The V40 Motorcycles such as the VF700s were the free market fighting back against the oppressive trade regulations. That is why this sought after machine is set to be one of the most collectable bikes from that time. Shipping: I am selling this as local pick up only but I will treat every situation on a case by case basis. I am willing to drain the fluids and prep the bike (NOT PACK) for shipment, but all arrangments will be made my the buyer. I can not pay for shipping costs. I can help load and tie down if needed.
